After what seems like hours, dad knocks on my door.
"Come in." I say so quietly I think he doesn't hear me, but he walks in with his eyes not leaving the ground. "Hey."
"Hi," he says walking slowly towards my bead and sits. "So what's going on sweetie?"
"I don't know." I shrug and look at the soft quilts on top of me. "When the neon lady told me I looked like crap something just snapped. I didn't plan it!" I look over at him and he's smiling at the floor.
"Just like your mother." He whispers. I just stare at him. He sees the look on my face and reached out to touch my arm.
"When your mother and I were young, she had quite the temper on her too. She would blurt out random things that could have hurt her if it wasn't for me." I remember mom telling us this story. When they were in the Capitol getting ready for their first games, an Avox came upto my mom and offered her some wine. She blurted out how she knew her, but that was 'impossible' to know an Avox. But she explained later that she watched them get captured by the Capitol. Dad cut in and explained how it looked like their childhood friend Delly. If he didn't, she could have gotten onto a lot of trouble.
I smile at the wall and see dad's face. He looks so much older. Mom does too.
"Well. I came up here to tel u that we are arriving at the Capitols train station in about five minutes. Get ready and try to dress to impress, ok?" He says brushing my hair from my eyes.
"Okay." Once he walks out and closes the door, I spring out of bed and run to my closet. I swing open the doors and look at all the possibilities I have just from a great first impression.
