"I can't say you never surprise me Beau,"

Beau smirked, looking up at Jared. His friend looking a bit pale as his brown eyes watched as the needle pierced into Beau's skin, leaving black ink in it's place.

"You gonna get sick kid?" The tattoo artist, Mona, asked. She grinned slightly up at Jared's queasy expression before continuing to place the shadowing on Beau's forearm.

"Doesn't it hurt?" Jared asked, before whispering, "I have a tattoo as well, but mine was tatted on me a bit different."

"I've experienced worse," Beau said, and he had.

When Jared winced, Beau knew that the werewolf had gotten what he meant. Beau had been through a lot of pain in his life. Both mentally and psychically that getting a small needle jammed into his skin a hundred times a second wasn't anything compared to getting knocked over onto the ground by a vampire.

"What is it?" Jared asked, trying to peer around Mona to see the full design.

"It's almost done," Beau laughed, shoving Jared a bit with his free arm, "You'll see it then."

"Or you could just tell me," Jared insisted, as Sam came up behind him. He was twirling Beau's car keys on his index finger, handing them back when Beau reached for them.

Apparently, as a going away gift, Carlisle and Esme had insisted that they'd buy him a car to drive around in when he went to Manhattan. Charlie and Beau both nearly had a heart attack at the gift, especially since the car was something neither would be able to pay back.

The 2008 Range Rover sat outside of the tattoo shop, and Beau felt nothing but love for the car. After years of walking places, Beau had been skeptic on getting a car; but now that he had it, he found it reliving not having to worry about the weather everytime he wanted to go somewhere.

"You're done," Mona announced, pushing her rolling chair away. Beau looked down at his tattoo instantly, smiling as his eyes went over the flawless design he'd made himself.

The tattoo when down the entire inside skin of his forearm, starting just after the crease of his elbow and stopping just before the veins in his wrist.

The first circle starting down from the crease of his elbow was the picture of a waning crescent, then in the middle connected by a tiny straight black line was the entire moon, followed by another black line that connected to a waxing crescent. The main phases of the moon were all shaded a soft black and light grey. The tattoo reeked of so much things that meant so much to him; and Beau was happy he'd made the choice to get it.

Most importantly, the moons represented light in a sea of darkness, a silver lining and a promise for things to get better. The lines connecting the moons showed how everything was always together, mixed and sometimes blurred, but never impossible to find. The moons taught him that though some things are hidden, they aren't always forever. That they'll show themselves when you're ready for them, you'll just have to wait.

"That's amazing," Jared commented, and Beau smiled down at his arm; which was being cleaned and wrapped in a protective gauze by Mona.

"I like it a lot," Sam said as well, clapping a hand on Beau's shoulder, "It's really fucking cool."

"Thanks," Beau said, nodding at both of them as he got out of his chair. It was strange, having a tattoo on his arm. The feeling was small, but strange nonetheless.

After paying for his tattoo and thanking Mona, Beau left the tattoo shop with Jared and Sam trailing behind him. They climbed into Beau's Range Rover, ignoring the awkwardness of having one presence missing from their group.
