Volume 1 chapter 2 : { The knight's friends}

The days before these were long and boring but recently, she had found herself curled up in blankets, on the same chair she sat at every day in Zen's study room. She had to accompany Prince Raj to Clarines very often for some unknown reason so she had been spending some quality time in that room that she grew to love.

She enjoyed how every time she read a book, Zen would ask her to read it to him. Not like she didn't like it. She found it....cute. But that wasn't the only thing she enjoyed in her time she spent there. She would always smile at how Obi and Mitsuhide would tease Zen about everything. She probably smiled the most this year in her entire life.

Before she became a knight, to her, the world outside her family members was just another blank page of a story book casted aside. She found no happiness being outside and would rather stay indoors, either training or studying. Being the only light in the dark abyss which she lived in solitude, her brother, Aoi , always tried to make her smile.

She missed him. She missed everything about him. From his  strange white hair to his kind smile. She chuckled a bit remembering his strange hair color. For all those years she spent with him, she still couldn't find out the reason for his white hair. It wasn't in their genes...Could it be he was adopted? Did he have a deformity? Nonetheless, she had thought too much about it which resulted in her staring at the eyes of a curious young man.

"Y/n you've been spacing out recently when I talk. Am I that boring? "

Feeling an arm around her shoulder, she turned to look at Obi, who had slipped in through the window and was now sitting quietly down beside her.

"You know, I can't say your not, Master."

Seeing a tick form on the top of Zen's head, she smiled slightly and closed her book. Hearing a knock on the door, she got up and strolled there.

Zen could only see a bit of who she was talking to but it looked like it was a guard. A few minutes passed and Zen grew impatient. Did she really need to talk to that guard for so long? Obi, who seemed to notice his discomfort, smirked at him.

"oh? Is this jealousy I see?"

Zen quickly snapped out of his thoughts and stared at obi. That's right, he didn't need to feel like that. But ever since he met her, he had the urge to be cautious when she came over. It was as if he knew something bad would happen to her if he took his eyes of her for even a minute. He heaved a sigh and ruffled his hair.

" Zen"

As he looked up, he realized she had stopped talking to the guard and was now standing in front of him. He watched her bow and look back at him, making eye contact.

" I'm leaving now. I'll see you the next time we meet."

Giving her a nod, he stood up and led her to the gates of the modern castle. He had noticed. He had noticed a little sadness behind that emotionless face. She had showed him her smile a few times but most of the time, she would where and expressionless mask. And he was planning on changing that. As they neared the gates of the modern castle, he made a mental promise to her that he would do that. He wanted her to feel joy again. He wanted her to feel happy.

Looking at her for the last time, he went back to his study where Obi was talking to Mitsuhide.

' Just wait Y/n. I'm going to make you smile'
