Due to the fact that it was the last night of summer, Draco was not allowed to stay over. Aunt Cissa called for him at nine thirty and we said goodnight before he left. The following morning, we met at the station early so that we could find a compartment together.

Saying goodbye to my family was hard. I could tell Mum wanted to cry, but daddy kept telling her not to because he'd laugh at her. They each gave me a hug and a kiss on my forehead; then I turned to my brothers. Nathan, my youngest brother, cried a little bit as he hugged me. He's so little that his head only comes up to my knee-caps. Mason tried to be stronger as he hugged me, his head coming up to my waist, but I knew they'd both miss me. I ruffled their hair and turned towards my other family.

Aunt Cissa pulled me into a tight embrace and Uncle Lucius patted my arm awkwardly. He'd never been one for affection. I led Draco onto the train and we decided upon a compartment in the back. Usually it's the two of us, Crab and Goyle, but today they were nowhere in sight as the compartments filled up with others students.

"Where's your best friend?" He asked me at one point, seemingly teasing me for not finding my girl friends yet. "You know, the one that follows me around like she's my bloody shadow?" He tacked on, making me laugh out right.

I playfully smacked his arm and scolded him for talking about her that way. Over the summer, whenever we saw him, Kayla became increasingly more flirtatious around my best friend. Since last year, she'd been debating whether or not she liked him, but I think she might more than she realizes.

"What, you want me to leave? Whoever will protect you from the Gryffindorks?" I returned his jibes, playing to his ego so that I could stay sitting next to him. He scoffed and then smirked.

"You just want to stay with me." Damn, he's good. He can read me like a book.

As we got off the train, we met up with Crab and Goyle and walked past Granger and her filthy leader Potter, oh and that Ginger blood traitor. Draco taunted Potter about the ministry letting him walk free.

"I expect there's a cell in Azcaban with your name on it," he sneered. Weasle grabbed Potter as he lunged for Draco.

Draco put his arm up in front of me and pushed me behind him, to protect me. Granger gave us an indignant look that got my blood boiling. What did she think was going to happen? Potter wouldn't dare touch Draco.

"What're you looking at, Granger?" I asked, giving her a dirty look. She glared at me and said nothing.

"What did I tell you? Complete nutter," he turned towards me and I laughed.

At dinner that evening, I was reunited with my friends Kayla, Maeve, and Aurelia. We sat at our own end of the table while the boys sat at the other. That would change soon, all of us girls had just wanted to catch up beforehand.

As per tradition, at 3 AM Draco and I headed out to our favourite stretch of the grounds. We had a blast talking about the fun we would have the next day in lessons. I dreaded how much homework we were going to have, however.

I'm writing this entry this afternoon, after the first round of lessons but before dinner. Kayla, Maeve, and Aurelia are waiting for me downstairs, so I don't have long.

I just want to promise myself that I'm going to upstage Hermione and Draco in studies this year. I will try my best to focus on my academics. I've already finished my first Potions essay. Props to the Slytherin Princess.
