**LILLY’S P.O.V.**
I literally run to the door, pulling it open. I freeze when I see Carter. Carter is standing on my doorstep.
“Huh…this is convenient.” Adam whispers from behind me.
I stare into Carter’s eyes. He says, “Hi.”
“Hi.” I reply.
“Wow, I didn’t think the conversation would get this deep.” Adam whispers.
I whack him with the back of my hand, not bothering to take my eyes off Carter.
“Hey!” Adam complains.
“Um…Lilly, can I talk to you?” Carter asks.
I nod.
He backs up, and I step outside, onto the porch.
The boys behind me step outside as well.
“Uh, alone please?” Carter says, not really to me but the guys.
“Oh yeah. Of coarse.” David says going back inside tugging Ian with him.
Adam scoffs. “What’s the point? We’ll be eavesdropping anyway.” He mumbles.
“Adam, just go inside!” I scold.
He rolls his eyes but goes inside, closing the door behind him.
Now Carter and I are alone.
This is what I wanted. I wanted to talk to him. So why aren’t I talking to him? Lilly say something!
“Carter…I-“
“No. I have to say something.” He cuts me off. He nibbles on his bottom lip.
“You can tell me whatever you want… just let me talk first, okay?”
I nod.
“I should probably say sorry for the kiss, but in all honesty, that is the last thing I’m sorry for. I loved that kiss.”
He takes a deep breath before saying; “I’m so in love with you.”
I gasp a little. He…just said he’s in love with me.
“And you don’t have to say it back! I just want you to know. I’m in love with you,” he repeats.
“Carte-“
“Let me finish.” He cuts me off.
I close my mouth and nod again.
“I love everything about you. I love what you do to me. You make me different. Whenever I’m around you, you make me feel like I can accomplish more than what’s possible. When I’m around you, I don’t want to be the shy Carter. You make me want to be a guy who’s outgoing and nice to everyone. You make me want to be the man you deserve.”
“And I know you don’t want me the way I want you …but I need you. And you can have me whatever way you want me. If you want me to just be your friend, then that’s what I’ll be. It might be weird for me, but I’ll get use to it. And if we’re…I don’t know…in our sixties, and you change your mind, I’ll be there.”
“I’ll wait forever for you if I have to, but for now, just let be in your life.”
“Cart-“
“And I promise I won’t try anything, because I would be too afraid to lose yo-“
I cut him off by connecting my lips with his. He doesn’t hesitate to kiss me back.
He puts a hand on each side of my face. I put one of my hands over his, and my other behind his neck.
I pull away first, resting my forehead against his cheek.
“Did that really just happen?” I hear Carter whisper to himself.
I chuckle. I peck him on the lips, and then kiss his jaw. I love his jaw…
“What about Callum?” He asks.
“You’re not Callum.” I pull away to look at his face.
A smile lights up his face. “I literally had a dream with you saying that exact thing.”
I laugh, pulling him closer.
“Would you really wait forever for me?”
His thumb strokes my cheeks. “Forever and ever.”
My smile widens, and he leans in for another kiss, but before our lips could meet, the front door opens. In the doorway is Adam.
“Finally! Does anyone else feel like this just took too long to happen?” He says. “And when we all hang out, I better not feel like the fifth wheel! I refuse to be the o-“
David yanks Adam back inside shouting. “You dimwit!”
Ian shouts at him too “They were still having a moment!” The door shuts.
I giggle at them. Carter chuckles while wrapping his arms around me. “So…Lilly.”
“So, Carter.”
“Will you go on a date with me?”
I smile at him. “I’d love that.”
