The day of Alfred's Halloween party, Saturday, finally came.
I took the make-up I had bought into the bathroom and set them onto the counter. I was mesmerized. There was a lot of make-up! But, as dad once said, better to have too much than not enough.
I chuckled. Dad always had something wise to say. Like, when I had rolled down that steep hill that mom, when she was a bit nicer, told me not to. I skinned my knee. Mom and dad came to me. Mom was about to say that I was grounded but dad decided against it. He said, "We told her not to roll down the hill so she wouldn't get hurt. Since she did so and got hurt, she learned her lesson, right?" I nodded.
I stepped off memory lane when a tear trickled down my face and dripped onto the floor. I quickly wiped it, hoping Biana nor Juli saw that from behind me.
"I miss you, dad," I whispered.
"What did you say?" I jumped. I turned around and saw Bianca leaning against the door frame. she had her cat ears on but nothing else.
"I was just talking to myself," I told her.
"Okay." She walked over to me. She looked at the make-up then at me. "Why don't you go put on your "zombie" clothes and then I will um... paint whatever's visible."
I laughed. "M'kay." I changed into the "zombie" clothes and went back into the bathroom.
The shirt was a dark blue and long sleeve with jeans. They were torn at the ends of the sleeves, jeans, and the shirt; few tiny holes scattered about.
"Why do you like long sleeves so much?" Bianca asked.
"I just prefer them over short sleeved clothing. I like warm over cold," I answered as I sat on the counter.
"It suits you." I smiled and Bianca got to work.
*~About 2 hours later~*
Bianca stepped back and looked at me. "It looks..."
"What?" I asked.
"A...mazing!" she exclaimed.
"Good. I thought you were going to say "Awful"." I let out a sigh of relief. I hopped off the counter and turned towards the mirror. She was right. I looked like a brain-eating zombie. Except...
"Wait..." I stepped out of the bathroom. I picked up my wig that was next to a fast-asleep Juli on my bed. As I walked back into the bathroom, I was messing up the hair on the wig, making rat's nest tangle up here and there.
"Those are gonna take a while to get out," Bianca pointed out.
"I know, but.." I put my hair into the built in wig cap and put the wig on my head. "Now it looks better." I rolled my eyes back just enough so you could only see the white of my eyes but enough so it wouldn't hurt. "Uugh..."
"Hey." Bianca held up her hands to say "I surrender"."We're going to a Halloween party, not auditioning for The Walking Dead."
I fixed my eyes and laughed. "At least I'm not going to go live with the Aristocats," I teased.
"Hey! No dissin' the kitties! You gotta admit, though, they are excellent painters."
I nodded. "True."
We laughed and I heard Juli mumble something in her sleep about unicorns... I chuckled.
"You think we should wake her up now?" Bianca asked.
"Yeah." We walked out of the bathroom and over to the bed Juli was sleeping on. I sat on the bed and shook her shoulders lightly. "Juli~" I said in a sing-song voice, "Time to get up~"
