Isolation??
Isolation. The place in the school for the worst of the worst. The kids who just couldn't handle themselves.
Why was she in here?
"Sir, um, why am I here?"
He snarled, "Oh so you're not so sarcastic now?"

"Sir, I didn't do anything!" She tried as he swung open the doors.
"Then explain this!" He said raising her arm... Which had a little plastic packet of white powder.
Valerie was puzzled until she thought back to the shaggy haired kid who bumped into her. Those jocks must've wanted it.

"You're not gonna believe me so-"

"Save your breath. I don't care for excuses." He said slightly shoving her into the room.

The door slammed in her face.
The room was dim due to the lack of light, but the wall with large windows provided enough. All the chairs were turned upside down on the tables as they did to every classroom at the end of each day.
She turned, expecting to be alone, and almost jumped when she saw a males figure near the windowed wall.

Beast?

She suddenly became of each nerve in her body. From her unpainted nails to her oversized t-shirt--and the little holes in it that were actually accidental but then Yeezy came to be. Despite herself, she couldn't deny that Alec was gorgeous. Every line that formed his long body and every bruise and scar between the crooks and quirks of him. So, because of that, she brushed her long-ish hair out with her fingers.
What to say? Nothing? Everything?
So instead, she just joined him by the window, propping herself on a nearby table instead.
"Alec,right?" His jaw tightened.

It was then she knew he was going to be one of those 'dark, smouldering, I'm-so-sexy-and-serious' characters.
Valerie sighed.
"Or do you just reply to Beast?" She tried, nothing. Sighing she said, "I'm guessing you reply to nothing then?... Cool." She added sarcastically.
He looked a lot better when he wasn't saving you from danger while also looking like he may have been the danger. His midnight hair was swept back, a few pieces falling above his brow and he wore a long sleeved grey shirt with the sleeves rolled up.
100% gorgeous. Great.
Why do assholes always have to be the hot ones?
"You know, I'd get why you'd avoid a girl who you saved once and seemed like any average Starbucks loving, danger fearing girl--but that's not me... As you know." She said talking to air.
"But, I know for a fact," Val jumped off of the table and slid beside him, forcing him to look at her, "that you have questions, some that may be quite important actually."

He breathed heavily. Turning to face her more. And with a slightly less frightening face on.
He stared her up and down and wetted his lips. Extremely nerve wracking.
"I'm not going to deny that night. And despite what you said i still have no idea who you are, where you came from or if you are just like all the other 'Starbucks loving' girl," he paused, "And I'm not particularly interested in finding out." He said but his stormy eyes told the truth.

Valerie chuckled and he looked offended quickly. "You're lying" she said in a sing-song way, slightly circling him. "I think you're very interested, but let your reputation get the better of you. " She stepped in front of him.
"But I have a new reputation too, I'm not sure what it is but I have one. So, I'm going to uphold it."
He raised an eyebrow.
"What I'm saying is--"
"Look, I've tried casual sex and all but I'm not reall--"

"WHAT?"

Alec scratched his neck, "That wasn't what you were talking about?"

"No!" A blush rose to her cheeks, "I was going to say that we could meet up sometime to answer each other's questions."

He straightened up, towering above her, "I guess... But It's not a date."

"I never said it was."

"Good." A teacher shouting 'Leave now' sounded and they both grabbed their things. Just as Alec was leaving he turned and said, "Ace's Diner, after school tomorrow."

"Oh, tomorrow? I don't think I can--"

"Are you actually arguing with 'The Beast'?" He said, deadly serious.

Val put up her hands in surrender, "Pretend I didn't say anything."
***

"Hey, mom." Valerie said as she slid off her shoes. "Hi," was all she replied.
She looked tired and it was a rare occasion for her to be home at 5pm.
Her eyes didn't meet Val's at all and looked distant instead, a wine glass stood on the table in front of her... Two empty ones beside it.
"Um, are-are you alright? Where's maxi?" Valerie asked, slightly worried.

"I let him off for the night." She said, as distantly as her eyes.

"What's wrong?"

Suddenly, her mother got up from her chair , straightened her dress and put on a smile, "Absolutely nothing, darling. Could you finish washing up the dishes? I'm pretty tired so I think I'll go to bed." She robotically kissed her forehead and left, taking the wine glass with her upstairs.

When she was gone Val muttered to herself, "I guess I'll be having dinner alone again."
She put all her things away, got changed and washed all the dishes and discarded job her mother usually did.
She'd always been the 'helper' and often felt more like a maid rather than a human being in the house.
After it all, she'd lost her appetite.
Despite the rumbling in her stomach, but instead she forced herself to eat an apple because she didn't want to fall into her old ways.

Valerie turned to the stairs.

"Valerie," Her worst nightmare said.
