Some say that everything is governed by the decisions of other dimensional beings so powerful that no one could even comprehend. Everything has a finite existence in itself. If something happens to it, it fades away from the space-time continuum. This natural cycle has been going on since the very start of everything. It remained that way until something broke through. An inter dimensional menace known to few in the Third as the Master Core wreaked havoc on any universe that could not subdue it.It got the capability of absorbing the energy of that existence causing it to collapse. Once it gained enough power, it could transcend into a higher universe. During the past eons, it reached into the biggest dimensions of the multiverse known as the First, Second, Third, and Fourth. It overcame the First and Second. Somehow, it was thwarted in the Third before it took hold of the entire continuum. To counteract the being, a lineage of power with the strength of stars was created that could transcend as the foe did. They were able to reach and stop the vile before it could destroy the Third. A human known as Lauryn Veracruz was associated with the defeat of the Core. Although she did not defeat it herself, she was recognized in her hometown for her vigilance where she still resides. The true victor's whereabouts are unknown. Their disappearance happened shortly after the incident. Although there is a day made in recognition of the victor, no one really knows what happened. With the threat eliminated, the Third was at peace. Soon enough, six years had passed. The entire event was nearly forgotten. Especially to Veracruz. She had a mild case of PTSD. Everyone noticed that after the event, she changed, saying that the old her was dead. She was renewed. Now, she is at a science convention at Morales' Research Inc., where she will gain publicity for the first time since her trip to South America.
"And now, Señorita Lauryn Veracruz." The announcer stepped off the podium, letting Lauryn take the mic.
"Gracias. Hello everyone , I'm stoked to be here. Now how many of you remember something that I did?" She pointed to someone in the crowd.
"The Amazon trip and the Darkening."
"Verdad. It's been so long since the last time spoke publicly. Now, to business. I've made a presentation on future research on antimatter." As she showed a projected presentation, she ended with " According to my analysis, an entire antimatter planet could exist in the not-so distant future. Again, Gracias! I've been Lauryn Veracruz." Everyone applauded her as she left. She went down a corridor that led to a large experiment room. A woman who was younger than Lauryn went up to her side.
"What do you want, Kimberly?"
"I was wondering, how long did it take you to put your presentation together?"
"Too long. I have to go. I'm expecting my dad to visit me at home."
Kim walked in front of her. "Look, that's not why I talked to you. I was assigned a mission at the Yucatán camping grounds."
"And this concerns me... how?"
"I was debating whether or not, you could join me on this assignment."
"Me?"
"Sí. You know how to handle the jungle, well technically rainforest but that's not here or there. Also, I need at least two other people come with me. I already have my fiancé going. Will you do it?"
"Alright. But someday, you're going to repay the favor, Okay?"
"Then it's agreed. I leave in three weeks from tomorrow. I'll tell Morales that you're going."
"See you then." Lauryn walked off, exiting building.
Kim went the opposite direction, saying to herself "I hope I made the right decision. Hopefully the events of the past haven't affected her so bad... I wonder if she even respects me anymore."
