Lauryn got onto the helicopter when her wrist started to shake. Her smart watch was receiving a call.cc
"This is Lauryn Veracruz."
"This is Morales. I calling to inform you that there's been an accident in the radioactive testing sector."
"Do you need me there?"
There was a moment of silence. "Not any more, your dad has stepped up to help. Wait, aren't you heading out with Ms. Uribe?"
"Yes. We're departing now actually."
"Alright. Make sure you stay safe. I haven't surveyed the area in years. My associate hasn't transferred the data, so I have no idea what it's like over there."
"Alright. I expect to be back in one piece."
"Contact me when you return." The call ended. Lauryn climbed in the helicopter and closed the door.
Soaring across a vast forest, Kim and Lauryn look at each other.
"I've received information that there are campgrounds near the area we need to go. If anyone asks, we are representatives for Morales Research Inc. and we are passing to check on a facility."
"Are you sure they will let us through?"
"Yes, I'm sure. That's why we tell them that we are representatives on a mission. Someone there should understand."
"Don't you get the feeling that something might not go according to plan?"
"What do you mean?"
"We're flying into an area where no one has been to for years. I just get this weird feeling that something could jeopardize the mission."
"There's nothing to worry about. The only things that could do any harm (besides those campers, but I don't think they'll be a problem) are the anteaters and as far as I've heard, they are extremely friendly towards people."
Brandon muttered out, "There is a clearing in the forest. we will land shortly."
As the chopper made landfall, the girls stepped off. "Come on, Brandon. We can't leave without you." Brandon stepped out of the cockpit with a machete in his hand.
Lauryn said, "Why did you bring that to this mission?"
"This is the least extravagant thing we brought here. Mostly to slice through the vegetation in our way but if any hostile animal tries to attack, that's another reason. We prepared for a lot of contingencies."
"If you say so." They walked onward. Holding a GPS, Kim pointed westward.
"Morales sent me the coordinates. This is how we will find the facility since we couldn't land any closer. Head west."
"How far off course are we?"
"Not far. About two kilometers." They continued onward. As they traveled through the forest, a circle of sand came into view.
"Hmm. Odd." Kim said. "The coast isn't for nearly three kilometers. There shouldn't be any sort of sand in the middle of the forest."
"What are you doing?"
"I'm checking out this circle" Lauryn stepped on the circle. The ground shook a bit, then it collapsed under her feet, making her disappear into a subterranean hole.
Lauryn yelled, "I'm ok. No serious harm to me. Hmm... there seems to be a hidden cave here. Just one chamber. We might want to tell HQ that we found a new cave." She walked deeper into the cave. She shone her flashlight around. There was no sign of life or visible geological activity. She saw a strange object on the wall. She walked closer to see it better. At another glance, her eyes widened. She stepped back and looked around the cave "Oh no."
"Oh Yes." A strange voice replied. She turned around to see a mass of purple and pink material coalescing into something. The result was a human figure, appearing almost like the Core's nemesis. "You thought it was all over. This is where things start to get interesting. There is nothing you can do about me without the aid of the Helian." The figure held out her hand and a weird-looking weapon appeared. "Time to begin the annihilation of this dimension." She leapt extremely far out of sight through the new hole Lauryn opened. Once the figure was out of sight, the sand paranormally formed a set of stairs leading back to the surface.
Once on top, Kim and Brandon went to Lauryn as she sat down.
"What happened down there?"
"I fear... We've awakened the terror back into the world."
