"Stefan, seriously, stop sulking. This has been going on for weeks!" Caroline pleaded with Stefan.

"I appreciate the attempt, but you're not helping." The older vampire said.

"Come on Stef, let's go to the grill. Our friends are going, it'll be fun!" Caroline smiled, pulling on Stefan's arm.

"She's going to be there isn't she." Stefan more stated, than asked.

"She's our friend isn't she? What better way to show her you've moved on and can be mature about the situation, then go out?" Caroline said to him, trying to convince him to come out.

"I don't know..." Stefan sighed. Caroline had a point, even if it was a small one. He should go.

"Your coming and that's final, now go shower and get dressed, you smell like a dead skunk." Caroline ordered.

Stefan let out a loud sigh, then stood up off of the couch and went to his room to get ready.

--------------

"Hey aunt Liz, i just go into town, yeah, I kind of want to go see Caroline first, the Grill? Yeah, I remember it, Okay, thanks, love you, see you soon, bye." I hung up my phone and ended the conversation with my aunt Liz.

I haven't seen her or my cousin Caroline Forbes, since I was twelve. I used to spent a few weeks staying with them in Mystic Falls when I was younger. That was a long time ago.

But this time in stay a lot longer than a few weeks. dad thought I need a break from the supernatural. A long break.

I turned onto main street and drove down until I came upon the town square, where I knew The Grill was. We went there a lot when I stayed with them. So this place has been around for a while.

I pulled into the closest parking spot to The Mystic Grill, turned of my car and walked towards the restaurant.

--------------

Stefan and Caroline walked into The Grill and scanned their eyes over the tables, until Caroline spotted their friends at a table in the middle of the room.

"There they are." Caroline smiled, and pointed.

She grabbed Stefan's hand and drug him over to the table.

"Hey guys!" Caroline greeted their friends.

"Hey Caroline, Stefan." Matt smiled back.

"Hey guys." A few others said.

Stefan and Caroline grabbed a seat and joined the group.

Everyone indulged each other in small talk. Which probably wasn't horrible but Stefan wouldn't know. It just barely fazed him. His mind was on other things.

'what am I even doing here?'

'she looks really happy.'

'if she's happy, i'm happy.'

'plus she makes Damon better.'

'maybe it was supposed to be like this.'

Stefan had those thoughts racing through his head every minute or so.

He turned his head to face the group and actually try to participate in the conversation.

"So, I have to go back to work. I'll talk to you guys later." Matt smiled, then stood up from his seat and walked back over to the bar.

"Bye Matt." Everyone said.

"I need a drink." Stefan said then got up from his seat and walked over to the bar.

"Hey Matt, can I get the hardest thing you have?" Stefan asked Matt.

Matt scoffed. "Sure dude. But don't go breaking anything once you've started drinking."

"Noted." Stefan nodded.

Matt walked over to the counter and reached down to grab some kind of whiskey and poured it into a glass, then slid it over to Stefan.

"Thanks." Stefan sighed.

"No problem. So, how have you been since, ya know." Matt asked.

"Just peachy." Stefan said sarcastically.

"Tell me about it. That girl's broke more hearts than Damon's killed people."

Stefan scoffed at the exaggeration.

Matt walked away to serve other customers and Stefan just sat there sipping his drink in silence.

That was until someone plopped down next to him.
