Meeting Yui

~Yui's POV~

I panicked. I mean, the only person I ever talk to is my mum, and she's... Well, my mum. And blue haired boy isn't just anyone either. It sounds weird, but I feel like I know him, although I've never even seen his face properly before.
"Get a grip" I muttered to myself. "It's probably not even him anyway."
I could hear footsteps coming ever closer, when the boy called out again: "ok, I'm coming in..."
And the door opened.

~Hinata's POV~

I was nervous, to say the least. The whole thing was kinda weird: the only person home was a girl, probably quite young, seeing as she's home too early to go to school. And then there's the fact that she didn't just come down and give me back the ball in the first place... Maybe she's just shy, I decided. But then why is she letting me into her room?! Shaking my thoughts aside, I realised that I didn't even know which was her room. I decided on the first room I saw. Nervously, I opened the door and~
Oh. The bathroom.
Leaving, I decided on the door opposite the bathroom. I opened the door, to see that I had definitely found the right room. It was painted a pale pinky-white colour, and contained a simple bed by the window, overlooking the school grounds. But it was the girl on the bed that caught my eye. I had been completely wrong about her: she appeared to be my age, although quite small. Her hair was a dark, but shiny pink, which spread out around her in waves. On seeing me, she lowered her head and said:
"H-hi, your baseball is over there..." She said, nodding in the direction of the broken glass scattered on the floor.
"Uhm, ok, thanks." I said, not meeting her gaze.
I went to pick up the ball, but as I bent down, I put my hand on one of the glass shards.
"Dammit!" I said, as the cut on my palm started to bleed.
"Are you ok?" She asked, looking at me with obvious concern. It's funny, I could swear she looked like someone I knew, but I couldn't quite put my finger on it.
"Uhh, yeah, I just cut myself, do you have a first aid kit anywhere?" I asked.
"Y-yes, it's just down the hall" she replied, glancing downwards when I looked at her.
As I went back out of her room, I realised I had no idea where to go. Glancing around, I decided it would be easier to just ask than try every door. "Hey, um, which room is it?"
Silence.
"Maybe you could show me which one it's then?"
More awkward silence.
"I can't." The reply was short and bitter, which surprised me.
"Why not?" Maybe not the most tactful question I could've asked.
"I-I just can't, ok?! It's the door on the right at the end."
And so I found the room, and then the first aid kit, which was out in plain view. After having cleaned and put a plaster (band aid in America? Idk) over the cut, I headed back towards the girls room. On entering, I could see that there were tears on her cheeks, although she made no attempt to wipe them off.
"Hey, you ok?" I asked her, confused as to why she wasn't trying to hide her tears, and why she was crying in the first place... "I should leave... I'll pay for the window if you want? I'm sorry for all the trouble, I didn't mean to upset you so much, and~"
"That's not it" she said, at last looking met the eyes. "That's not why I'm upset. The... The thing is I..."
She trailed off, looking down at her hands once again.
"I... I can't move."
"Huh?" Are you stuck or something? Do you want me to help you get out of bed?"
"No, I mean- I mean I can't move at all. I'm paralysed."
Oh. That explains a lot.
"I-I'm so sorry..." I didn't know how to respond. What do you say to someone who's paralysed?! All I could manage was a feeble "why didn't you tell me at first?"
"It's not exactly a great conversation starter, is it? "Oh hello there, nice to meet you! My names Yui, and by the way, I'm completely paralysed!" She responded dryly.
Well at least she had a sense of humour.
"Good point, but it's not like mine was any better" I replied, " I mean who starts a conversation by with: "hello, I'm the kid that just broke your window! I'm just going to come into your house now to get my baseball back.""
Surprisingly, she laughed. Feeling slightly more confident, I asked:
"So, you're called Yui then?"
"Yeah, I am... What's you're name?"
"Hinata."
In that moment, our eyes met, and as they did, I felt a memory spark somewhere in my mind. An image flashed in front of my eyes: a pink haired girl on stage, singing and dancing.
She looked like Yui. Don't be stupid, I thought to myself. You've just met her! Anyway, it'd be stupid even if you hadn't just met her, seeing as she couldn't possibly singer dance...
But I couldn't shake the feeling it was real.
Looking back at Yui, I saw a look of confusion pass over her face. I decided it was time I left.
"I'm gonna go now, and I will pay for the window, so don't worry. I'm sorry for all the trouble!"
Picking up my baseball, I headed to the door.
"Come again some time, ok?"
Turning, I saw her cheeks flush the lightest pink, but she held her gaze. I smiled back.
"Of course."
And with that, I left.
