I slapped a hand over my mouth to stifle the laugh that was dying to come out. JJ and I were at TGIF's and were playing truth or dare. We felt it was a perfect way to get to know each other more than we already did. He was showing me the part of their Southampton football match where he literally flopped on the ground like a fish. "I think I'll just have to watch the whole thing when I get home." I said, laughing lightly. He laughed. "Yeah it's safe to say we dominated. I didn't do shit. But we still won." He said, shrugging. I giggled again. "Truth or dare?" He asked me as he stole a chip off of my plate. I sighed and finally gave in, answering truth. I had been dodging it since we started playing, scared we would ask about my family. "Why don't you ever talk about your family?" He asked. Bingo. I looked up and into his eyes for only a second. The soft brown irises were filled with concern and his eyebrows were furrowed. "I told you....it's complicated." I said, pulling the sleeves of my sweater over my hands and taking a sip of my water. "That doesn't answer my question." He said. I sighed again. "You really want to know?" I asked, raising an eyebrow at him. He nodded, not saying anything. "Well I've never even met my parents. They put me up for adoption the day I was born. My mum didn't even look at me. I was never adopted and when I turned eighteen I moved in with Liv, who was nineteen at the time." I said quickly. "Oh. I'm sorry I brought it up. I didn't know." He said quickly, guilt rushing across his face. I laughed. "It's okay, JJ." I smiled a reassuring smile. There was a flash of lightning outside of the window we were sitting beside and then a boom of thunder. "Great." I mumbled as the rain started falling. He laughed lightly. "Guess we'll just chill here a bit longer." He said, getting yet another chip off of my plate. The only thing left on my plate were a few chips that I simply couldn't eat. I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket and got it out slowly, sighing once I read the text from Liv. The power had gone out at home, but not here. "Well I don't have power so." I shrugged, putting my phone on the table. "Oh shit. Let me see if I do." He said, getting his phone out. A few minutes later his phone lit up on the table and he smiled. "I have power. If you'd like to come back to mine." He smirked, looking at me. "Well Liv's at home and -" "She can come too. We have a spare room. You two can spend the night?" He offered. He was stubborn is what I've learned so far. But not too annoyingly stubborn. Well sometimes. "Let me ask." I sighed, giving in. I dialed Liv's number, feeling like it would be easier than texting her. "Hello?" She answered, her voice annoyed a bit. "Ummm hi. JJ said he still has power and he offered for us to go over there and stay the night." I said quickly, knowing she would have to rant to me about how I barely knew him and all that stuff before she even considered the idea. After a long moment of silence, I heard her sigh. "Well I already called off of work tomorrow since we planned on going to Westfield." She started. I could tell she was biting her lip, like she did when she was thinking. The same thing I did. "Sure. I'll pack your bag. Text me when you two are on the way home." She finally said. I must've looked surprised because JJ laughed at me. "Alright will do. Bye." I said quickly before hanging up. "She accepted. Which is very surprising for so many reasons." I said, shaking my head. "You sure your roommates wouldn't care?" I added quickly. "Nah. They're pretty chill. Which you've met them before." He said. I nodded in response. I suddenly felt guilty about this whole situation. I mean, I didn't want to feel like I was intruding. But then again, he was the one who offered.

I sighed as I plopped down on the bed I would be sleeping on for the night, Liv laughing awkwardly at me. JJ had just given us a tour of the house and Liv was very taken back by the Lamborghini and other luxury vehicles in the driveway. She didn't know they were wealthy. "I have to say that of all of your boyfriends, JJ seems the most promising." She said, closing the door. "He's not my boyfriend." I rolled my eyes. "Yeah, yeah. I know you, Kenz. He will be soon." She said, sitting down on the other side of the bed. There was a light knock on the door and I stood up quickly and opened it. I was surprised to see Simon stood there. "Either of you play FIFA?" He asked, pointing at the two of us. "She does." Liv spoke before I could. "We're playing in the living room if you'd like to join. You too." He said to me, then pointing at Liv before walking away. I turned around and looked at her with pleading eyes. "Just come talk to them. Be nice. Make friends?" I asked. She sighed and stood up, following me out of the door, a lot less enthused as I was. Once we reached the living room I saw Simon, Josh, and Vik sat on one sofa and JJ on the other, holding a controller and one in the seat beside me. "Let's just see how good you are." He smirked, holding up the controller that he wasn't originally holding. "Well if you pick Arsenal I don't have to be good." I joked, dropping down beside him, leaning back. This got laughs from the other three boys on the couch Liv had taken a seat on, being sure to sit as far away from them as possible. "How'd you know my team was Arsenal?" He asked quickly. "You had on a top the other day. Just assumed." I shrugged. "Don't disrespect my team." He said, nudging me with his elbow. "I'm not. I'm just respecting mine." I smirked. "Jide, I like this one." Josh said, laughing. "Yeah me too. Can we keep her?" Vik asked. "We'll see." JJ mumbled, still butthurt that I dissed his team. I looked at Liv, who had the ghost of a smile on her face. I knew she was enjoying herself, she would never admit to it though. But I would gladly.
