I stared up at the tall, dark, abandoned building. The sign that once read Miss Hayes' Home For Girls now had a big X spray painted on top of it, making most of the letters disappear behind it. I didn't know why I was here, at my home for the first eighteen years of my life, but I was. I went for a walk. I knew no one would approve as it was past midnight and I was alone, but I had my phone with me so I could call if anything was wrong. It was almost as if I was drawn to this place. Something was compelling me to walk here. And as I stared up at the chipped bricks and vines, I knew it was a mistake. It's been two months since I found out about the pregnancy. JJ's fans were supportive, as well as his family. And of course the guys were. Everyone knows now, and that's why I was currently unemployed. Liv and I still lived at home but JJ also insisted he help pay the bills. No doubt in my mind he was blowing up my phone at the moment, but I had it on silent, so I wouldn't surely know until I looked. After this, he'd probably really want me to move in with him. As I sighed and turned on my heel to leave, a hand was placed firmly over my mouth. My hands went up to it immediately, giving the attacker a free shot of my stomach, which he stabbed. Because of the current adrenaline rush, I didn't feel it. I just saw blood soaking my blue shirt and dull, almost black eyes. The man, who was at least as tall as Simon, smirked, brought the knife out of my stomach, and walked away. I dropped to the ground, my shaking hands gripping my wound. I tried to get my phone out of my pocket, but I couldn't move. I was in so much pain, I just couldn't. I felt as if my mind was drifting away. The street lights went blurry and then multiplied. I blinked furiously, not wanting to pass out because I didn't know if I would wake up. I saw a pair of headlights coming towards me, and hoped they saw me. They must have, because the car stopped. And soon, JJ was over me, picking me up, and running. JJ. JJ was the last thing on my mind, as I gave into the dizziness and everything went black.
*JJ's POV*
•••
I paced in the waiting room. Back and forth. Back and forth. Back and forth. "JJ, man. Please sit down." Simon said with a sigh. He had his arm wrapped comfortingly around Liv, who was biting her nails. She hadn't stopped since we've gotten here. "Shut the fuck up." I rolled my eyes and continued my previous motions. Back and forth. Back and forth. "JJ, just because you're worried doesn't mean you can be a dick." Josh mumbled. "Sorry." I shrugged. Back and forth. Back and forth. This time, I didn't stop as Tobi spoke up. "What time is it?" He yawned. "2 AM." Ethan answered, checking his watch. Tobi leaned his head on Ethan's shoulder, and Ethan laid his own head on Tobi's. I knew they were knackered. Everyone was. I was just too worried to even think about sleeping. I had gone over to Mackenzie's house just to stay the night, but she was gone. I called and texted her more than fifteen times and then woke Liv up. She didn't know where she had gone either. After half an hour of Mackenzie not answering anyone's phone calls, we went looking for her. Liv was driving, and I was looking. And when we found her, it was as if my heart broke in my chest. To see her like that, with blood everywhere and closing eyes, scared the shit out of me. I thought back on the first time I was in the hospital with her and I thought I wasn't ready to lose her. Now, I knew I wasn't ready to lose her. Or the baby. The baby hadn't stopped floating around in my mind along with Mackenzie. What if we lost it? It made my heart drop at the thought. But I reminded myself that, as bad as it sounds, Mackenzie was more important. It was true. "Shouldn't we call her family?" Vik asked. At the sound of his voice, everyone seemed to perk up. It was as if he brought everyone back to reality and out of their thoughts. "JJ will you please just relax for a few minutes? We're all worried about you as much as her." Simon asked. Only then did I realize he was standing now. I sighed and went to sit down beside Harry. "Now, what about her parents?" Harry asked. I looked at Liv for help, who just nodded. "She doesn't have any." I mumbled, my knee beginning to bounce. "What do you mean? Everyone has-" "She was put up for adoption and never got adopted." I cut Josh off. The room went silent. There was absolutely no one else in here but us. So, it was quiet a lot. "Mackenzie L/N?" A voice said from somewhere else in the room. I shot up from my seat, as well as Liv. Everyone else stood up just behind us. Liv raised her hand and stepped towards the lady in the scrubs. "I'm her sister." She said, nodding. "I'm her boyfriend." I said. "The father of the baby?" The lady asked. I nodded. She looked down for a bit and then looked back up quickly. "Can I speak to you both for just a moment?" She asked. Liv and I exchanged a glance before nodding and walking forward.
