Chapter 5: A Question

Jade's P.O.V. 

 The the next day in class, I finished my work and handed it in. When I sat down I looked at Max. He looked like he was thinking, but I didn't want to interrupt, so I just kept quiet. Max remained silent with the same thinking expression the rest of the day, and hardly said anything. It was really strange. By the next day Max was talking again. I had asked him what he was thinking about, but he said it was nothing. I just nodded and let it go, if he didn't want to say what it was he didn't have to. 

Max's P.O.V. 

 During class I was thinking of something to say to Jade, because I finally had the courage to ask her out, but I couldn't think of anything the whole day. I hardly talked to Jade that day. I was still trying to think of something to say. The next day Jade asked me what I was thinking about. I was going to come up with something, but I couldn't even think about that either, so I just said, "Nothing." Jade didn't say anything after that, she just nodded and continued working. 

 I still hadn't asked Jade out yet, and I wasn't sure if I had the courage anymore, but a couple months later I walked up to Jade in phys-ed class and started talking to her. "Hi, Jade." I said with a shaky voice. 

"Hey, Max, what's up?" She smiled. 

"Um, I have something to ask you." I smiled back. Jade nodded and waited for me to speak. 

Jade's P.O.V. 

 I stood waiting for Max to speak, until I realized he looked a little nervous, but I gave him some time to speak. 

"Jade." He finally spoke. "We have been friends for a while now, and I have had a crush on you since we met, and I just want to tell you...... I like you." He continued. I was so shocked I couldn't help, but stare into his brown eyes and smile. Max smiled back. "Will you be my girlfriend?" He asked. I was so overwhelmed with happiness, because Max not only my best friend, but also the famous singer was asking me out! I blushed so much that my face turned beat red. Finally I spoke. 

"I like you too Max, of course!" I said giving him a bear hug. Suddenly Drake popped up out of nowhere, jumping the crap out of both of us. 

"AWW, that's so cute!" He gushed. 

"Were you eavesdropping on us?!" I replied pulling away from Max. 

"No, I just heard you guys talking, so I just decided to listen." Drake answered. I rolled my eyes at him and told him to go away. Of course Drake being Drake, he said no. 

"Go away." I said again. 

"No." Drake argued. Okay, now I was getting annoyed. 

"Please!" I argued back. Drake still refused, and remained glued to his spot. "GO!" I yelled as a growl ripped through my throat. Drake and I both flinched at the sound, and waited for a reaction from Max, afraid he would find out about us. 

"I'm going to go now. See you later, Jade I love you!" Drake said, pacing away. 

"What was that?" Max asked with wide eyes. 

"What was what?" I said, pretending to be all innocent. 

"You know what I'm talking about. The growl." He replied. I gulped, and suddenly felt nauseous. 

"You know what, I'm going to get a drink." I said, walking off. Max followed me. 

"No, really what was that?" He said, not dropping the subject. 

"I don't know where that came from. It probably had something to do with my thirst." I lied. It was a stupid excuse to come up with, because I knew he wouldn't probably wouldn't believe that. I bent over the water fountain to drink. 

"Probably." Max finally replied, finally letting the situation go. I was kind of surprised that he actually went with my excuse. Finally the day was over, and I hugged Max goodbye, and I told him I would see him Monday. Max nodded and got on his bus, as I walked home.
