This is for everyone who's going back to school and confused af. And it's also dedicated to my best friend(but doesn't know it yet.) If you're like us who's graduating in December or very soon, do what makes you happy with your future :)
I have no requests at the moment, so please leave some so I have more things to write!
Everything was so frustrating to you. You were almost done with school and would soon have a college degree! You were excited, but like everyone around you going through the same thing, you were confused. You had moved out to LA to college so you could attend USC, while you left your family back home. Your parents were pressuring you to come back home for grad school, but you wanted to stay there for the one year Master's program. You had just gotten off FaceTime with your parents and it ended like all the others had been before, sad and frustrating.
You were on the couch in your apartment when your boyfriend came in after messing around with his bandmates all day. He gave you a sweet smile, but you didn't even notice as your head was in your hands.
"Baby? Is everything okay?" Ross asked as he sat down on the couch next to you.
"I want to stay here with you, my friends, my school but my parents..." You stopped your sentence and sighed.
"They're still trying?" He asked as he started slightly rubbing your back.
"I get that they want me home, I come home for major holidays and a month in the summer, but my life is here now, and they don't understand. They're almost forcing me to come back home for grad school, but that's not where I want to be, but they won't be happy if I don't leave here." You laid your head on the pillow on the couch.
"You know it's your future, not theirs. I'm not the one to know about college and things, but I know what makes you happy, ice cream, and being here in California. They can try and live their dreams through you, but it's not gonna work that way. Sure, you could go back home for grad school and make your parents happy, but you won't be happy. You'll think every day about what would happen if I didn't leave everything and come back home. This is your home now." Ross looked into your eyes.
"But I don't want to make them mad, disappoint them you know? School's been so important to them with me and..." You stopped as Ross interrupted you.
"They're your parents, they may not understand your choices, or be excited with them, but they will love you no matter what. Once they see and get through their heads how happy you are, nothing will matter but their little girl is happy. Apply for grad school here, your friends believe in you, and so do I." He kissed you on the cheek.
"Thank you. I'm still scared, but I need to be here, I can't go back home." You smiled for the first time that afternoon.
"That's my smart, beautiful girl." He smiled and helped you off the couch.
"Can we get some ice cream?" You asked.
"Well it's one of your favorites, and you're my favorite, so why not." You both smiled as you walked out the apartment for an impromptu date night.
