HPOV
"So what is this... Hot Topic?" Hux's dad asked Hux as the two of them turned a corner on their way to Hot Topic.
"It's like... modern culture clothing, Dad. Like fandoms and stuff." Hux tried to explain.
"Fandoms. You children and your... weird words these days." Hux's dad said. Hux laughed out loud.
Winter break had started yesterday and both Hux and his dad had to run some errands. Hux's dad got his done first and now Hux was getting his done. Hux's errands were getting some Christmas presents and his dad's were getting money from Chase bank so he could spend it on Christmas presents. Hux could remember a conversation that he had Ben had had sometime last year when they were in the mall that was a mile away from Han's house together.
Ben had pointed to a store in the corner of the mall and said, "Hey, Brendol, can we go in there?"
Hux could remember being curious about the store and asking, "What's in there?"
"Only the coolest stuff ever." Ben said enthusiastically, dragging Hux inside the store. Hux still didn't know what was in there, but he ended up going in anyway because his boyfriend wanted to go and he likes seeing him happy. Plus, he was actually intrigued to see what was inside the store himself.
It turned out that there was a ton of stuff inside the store- merchandise of all the shows Ben and Hux watched, plus more. Hux had to drag Ben out of the store to keep him from buying the entire store, but the two of them left with a couple t-shirts of their favourite shows, both feeling like they'd made out like bandits. Hux was in fact wearing one of their shirts at the moment, a black t-shirt with white Game of Thrones font that read: "You know nothing, Jon Snow."
Hux's father went toward a small bratwurst shop outside the Hot Topic, saying he was hungry. So Hux went inside the store and browsed for a little while, trying to decide what to get Ben and his friends. He decided to get one of P! atd's albums, a Fever You Can't Sweat Out for Rey and a hufflepuff scarf and tee for Ben. He wondered if that was too little to give his boyfriend but decided that Ben would in fact, enjoy it because it was given to him by Hux, and also because hufflepuff was according to Ben, "freaking awesome".
Hux decided he'd get small things for Han, Finn, Poe, Mitaka and even Ellen. He'd already gotten things for his parents and grandparents earlier that day. He bought the stuff and left Hot Topic to see his dad outside the bratwurst shop eating a sausage sandwich on a bench.
His dad gestured to the bag Hux had in his hand. "Who'd you buy the stuff for?" He asked.
Hux looked down at the bag in his hand, smiling a bit. "Oh, this? It's just for a special friend of mine."

Once the two of them had finished their Christmas shopping, Hux's mum joined them at a coffee shop outside the exit of the mall. She had just gotten off a meeting and that was why she couldn't Christmas shop with her husband and son. But now all three of them were in the small, cozy coffee shop, drinking lattes and relaxing.
As Hux ate his cinnamon scone and drank his macchiato, the thought of coming out to his parents re-entered his mind. He breathed in and out, relaxing his nerves and calming his mind. He rehearsed the words that he would tell his parents in his head over and over: "Mum and Dad, I have to tell you something. I'm currently dating a boy in America." Simple. Then his parents would ask him if he was gay and he'd say he was bi explain what being bi is. He wasn't fully sure about what his parents thought of the LGBT+ community (politics had little been discussed in their house, if ever), but his gut told him to just outright tell them right there and now. Because they would eventually find out, right? Hux was a very firm believer in the saying, "If you love someone, you shouldn't hide them."
