Gerard's POV:

We drive until we come to meadow. I step out of the car and we sit down on the grass.

While Rookie's distracted I pluck a few pieces of grass and weave them together.

"What's that?" She smiles.

I place the slightly sloppily made flower crown on her head "A beautiful present for a beautiful girl." I blush.

I really hope she likes it. Jeez, why am I so cheesy?? It may just be a little gesture, but I want her to know how much I like her. I would've told her if.. Uh, Frank wasn't in the picture. I mean he's my best friend, and Rookie is his little sister. He'd get so angry if he found out, plus I don't think she feels the same way.

I mean she did kiss me, but what if she didn't want to? Shoot. I just, from the day I met her I fell in love.

She looks up at me with that bashful smile of hers "Oh shush."

"It's true though," I shrug.

"Well.... Thanks. You're pretty handsome yourself." She smiles.

We sit and watch the sunset for a while when I start to hum.

"Hey Gerard?"

"Yeah?"

"Can you sing somethin' for me?"

"Me?"

She nudges my shoulder "Aw, come on. I've heard you before. You've got one heck of a voice. I, uh, mean that in a good way."
She giggles.

I blush "You sure?"

"Please." She pleads.

"Fine, fine." I smile.

I clear my throat:
Sing it out, boy you've got to see what tomorrow brings

Sing it out

Girl you've got to be what tomorrow needs

For every time that they want to count you out

Use your voice every single time you open up your mouth

Sing it for the boys

Sing it for the girls

Every time that you lose it sing it for the world

Sing it from the heart

Sing it till you're nuts

Sing it out for the ones that'll hate your guts

Sing it for the deaf, sing it for the blind

Sing about everyone you left behind

Sing it for the world,

Sing it for the world...

I continue to sing as I look at Rookie's beaming face, staring in awe at me. She giggles and blushes whenever I look up at her while I'm singing, causing me to smile even more. I reach the end of the song:

Got to see what tomorrow brings

Sing it for the world,

Sing it for the world

I look up and wink at her,

Girl, you've got to be what tomorrow needs

She puts a strand of bright blue hair behind her ear and blushes.

Sing it for the world,

Sing it for the world.

She claps her hands in applause "Where'd you hear that song?"

I look down at my shoes "I, um, kinda made it up."

"You made that up?"

"Yeah."

"It's amazing, what is it called?"

"Hmm... 'Sing' (SING)."

"'Sing'.... I like it. My new favorite song."

"Aw, it isn't that good."

"Stop that! It's beautiful and you know it." She insists.

I take her hand and we stand up "We should probably get to sleep."

She walks towards the car and yawns "I guess you're right."

I put my arm around her and we fall asleep.
