I saw the flash before I heard the voices trying to talk over eachother, all with one goal: to get a word from Mr. Chase Michaels himself.
My plan was to walk right into it, get the pictures over with, a few interviews and we'll be able to go back to our lives. But that wasn't Chase's plan. "Don't worry, they'll be gone before you know it. You don't have to say out here, if you don't want to," he states while letting go of my hand.
I glance down at my empty hand and say, "It's fine. It can't be that bad, can it?" I start walking towards the fence that leads to the front yard, but a hand grabs my arm and stops me in my tracks. I turn to see a very serious Chase. "What?" He scootches us back towards the side of my house so none of the paparazzi can see us.
"Maybe you should sit this one out." I give him a questioned look. "You know, they finally found where I am, they'll wanna ask about the movies, why I've been hiding, it'll be pretty over whelming, you-" he keeps naming reasons but I just zone him out to a point where I hold a finger up to his lips to stop him. "Sh. It's fine." I give him a little smile, and he gives me a quick kiss.
"Have fun, movie star." I unlock the gate, and push Chase into his Hollywood world.
"Well that's pretty over whelming, don't you think?" My mother asks me as I stare at Chase giving multiple interviews at one time.
"What?" I question, turning to her.
"Having a super star boyfriend." Before I could say something, she walks over to me on the couch, sits down, and continues. "A boyfriend I honestly never thought you'd have."
"What's that supposed to mean?" I instinctively sit up straighter and stair directly at my mother.
"Calm down, I don't mean to offend you. I just mean that I always thought you and Chase would just stay best friends." She puts a hand on top of mine.
"Are you saying you don't want me seeing him, mom? Cause I don't see how that's your choice." I stand up, defensively.
"Aria, all I am trying to say is that he is a movie star, now." I back up, not wanting to hear this.
"Oh, so I'm not good enough. Got it." I don't know why this was making me so mad, but I couldn't help myself. Just because Chase has been in a few movies, a few commercials and now he's back doesn't mean that he's only limited to dating movie stars.
"Let me finish," she starts. "All i'm saying is he is a movie star. Of course you are good enough for that boy. Do not get it through your head that you aren't, okay?" She gently puts a hand on my cheek to try to give some comfort. "You've known him longer than anyone else. Just know, that he could have changed while in New York. He has money. He has clothes. He's met girls boys his age would only dream of meeting. Just make sure that fame doesn't go to his head. And if he ever tries denying you for one second, let him drop like a dead fly on the wall."
The last part got a laugh out of me, but as I gave her a kiss on the cheek and walked up to my room, all I could think about was what exactly she was talking about. What did she mean?
