One hour later. The noises from the deck grew. And soon the sound traveled, growing closer and closer. There was a steady clunk, clunk, clunk, of boots making the decent down the stairs toward the cellar. He was coming. Drusilla knew that this kid would be in for a treat. She almost felt bad for him. But it wasn't her fault he had gotten down here. Or was it? If she wasn't on this ship in the first place they wouldn't have had the idea for locking people up in this damp cellar. But she couldn't imagine that they would have been any different just because she wasn't here. Somehow she had always found a way to blame herself for everything. I guess it was just the way she was raised.
He entered the cellar. It was too dark to make out his features, but i can tell you he had a very devilish, childish, witty sense about him. And a very uncleanly cut shaven beard on his square, cheekbone defined face. Claudius was his name. Drusilla knew him well. He was young, age 25 or so. And certainly had quite a spirit.
"Hello loves." He said slurring his words. Too much rum up on deck probably.
"There is no reason for you to be here Claudius." Drusilla spoke up.
"Isn't there now? I was told we had a new recruit. It shall be me honor to whip him into shape."
"Leave him alone."
"It's fine. Drusilla." Alexander said for himself looking the pirate straight in the eyes. Then whispered and turned to Drusilla. "It's not like I haven't been through one of these things before."
Claudius was too drunk to care, and sliced part of Alexanders skin when he cut his ropes. Alexander winced.
"Oh sorry mate." He sneered, for he wasn't even the littlest bit sorry.
"I'm sure you are" Alexander said under his breath. And at that moment when Alexander stood up and faced the pirate without hesitation, Drusilla stopped worrying. It was just Claudius after all, she just hoped she could get him out of here somehow before he met Naveen. Why she was worried for this kid she didn't quite understand. He seemed different to her. She hadn't been given the chance to grow up like a normal child, with normal friends of her own age, and school. She had barely even met people of her age. The only time she was ever allowed on shore was during rades, but she was rarely made to go on those. But Alexander seemed special to her.
"Well well laddy, follow me." Claudius walked him up the ladder and toward the top deck. Drusilla watched them go and said a silent prayer for the boy.
