* Chloe’s POV *
After two years, this was the first time I came home. I wanted to think and I guess if I wanted to move on, I need to start at home. I need to see Cody’s grave and talk to him. I wanted a peace of mind. I have been living my life miserable for the past two years, and I know that the only way I can move on with my life is when I accept the fact that he was gone and never coming back.
The town where I lived in changed for the past two years. It was quiet as opposed to the time I lived here. Sure, it was still early in the morning, but usually the streets would be occupied with laughter and screams, loud enough that the elders would get mad at this time.
The neighborhood we lived in were friends with everyone, that every time someone had a party, everyone was invited. We were all close and that even if my parents were out of town for business trips, they didn’t need to call babysitters because they could ask the next door to look after us.
We were that close and admittedly, I miss all of that.
Standing right in front of my parent’s driveway, I waited for the perfect timing to knock on the door. I wasn’t sure if what I’m doing was right. Heck, I didn’t even call them up to know if they were home, but I guess that having their car parked on the driveway was enough proof that they were here.
Unless of course, they decided to take the plane, or a cruise, or a train to get to their destination which explains the car being parked on the driveway.
“Chloe!” A familiar voice called me from behind. It was my high school friend, Melissa. Also, Kyle’s ex-girlfriend. “I’ve missed you girl! Up to when will you be here?” Those were the questions I have remembered from all the questions she had thrown my way. By the volume of her voice, I’m pretty sure we have woken up the entire neighborhood.
Of course, I was joking. But she was too cheery in the morning and I just had to adjust myself back to the jolly life, not that I have been living in the dark for two years.
I shook my head. Honestly, I didn’t know. I didn’t have any plans. Even my trip here was all spontaneous, only because I wanted to get away from Zayn bugging me all week. He hasn’t stopped explaining everything from the start, from his point of view.
All I know that he was sick at that time and he needed a heart transplant, and apparently, Cody saved him, One Direction, and all of their fans.
How do I even start loving someone who had lied to me all these times? I know it wasn’t Zayn’s fault that he was sick, and it wasn’t Cody’s either.
But what if the only reason Zayn loves me was the fact he had Cody’s heart, making him confused of all his feelings towards me and Lexi?
“Earth to Chloeeee!” Melissa chanted, trying to get my attention. I nodded, confirming I was awake, or just to let her know I was listening, though honestly, my mind was flying off to another universe.
“Sorry, I’m a bit tired from the trip.” I lied, making an excuse just so I could get inside without having to hurt her feelings more than I already had when I left abruptly two years ago, not even leaving any notes I wanted to go away.
And I just did that again, but with Megan. By now, I guess she has already read the note I left on top of her laptop that I needed some time to think, and have instructed her to excuse me on all of my classes. The only way he could get at me if she figures out I came home and called my parents and ask for me, or maybe she would try and email me because I left my phone back at the campus.
I didn’t want anyone to call me while I’m on vacation, trying to find myself so I could grow and move on. Not even Megan’s advices could help me ease up my mind. I knew I should do this on my own.
