"The trees called to me, urging me to abandon what I knew and vanish into the oncoming night. It was a desire that had been tugging me with disconcerting frequency these days."

-Maggie Stiefvater

Happy Friday! :)

~Chapter Ten: Runaway Love (previously known as I'm In Love With A Nerd)~

Fortunately for me, school went by like a blur. I stayed awake most of the times — surprisingly — but I was in my own world.

I wish I didn't have to go to school physically. I would rather do it online, but Melanie won't hear any of it.

'School is the most important thing to go through in life if you want to survive out there', she always said.

That's why she attends nearly everything school related for me. Consultations, even though it is specifically teacher-parent.

But everyone in this school knows my older sister and loves her to bits. And in my opinion, she was my guardian at the moment, because my mother would rather be doing something else with her life.

Melanie does most of the bills in the house. My school fees. Electricity. Water. Wi-Fi. Rent. All courtesy to my sister.

Secretly, I admire her. She worked hard to do that and she's still in her second year at university. Lucky her. She finished school when she was 16.
When I'm older, I'll work hard for what I want, too. I don't like being dependent on other people. They could just let you down. Just like my dad. Just like my mum. Just like Carly.

Speaking of my ex-best friend, word went around that we ended things. Somehow, everyone knows about it yet it just happened today! Teachers would look at me and gossip to each other, while scowling or rolling their eyes at me.

Losers.

Don't they have classes to teach?

My fellow classmates aren't any better. Well, most of them weren't.

You see in our friendship, Carly was the sweet and kind person who everyone loves. May I underline the word 'loves'.

Girls envy her exotic eyes, flawless skin, full lips and gorgeous hair — her good looks in other words — but also want to befriend her because of her charming personality. Boys, well, boys will be boys around a sweet innocent girl. They'll hit on her.

She was basically a princess that everyone loved. Everywhere she skipped, she would leave happiness and awe in her trail which enticed most. I'm pretty sure she'll be homecoming queen this year.

Who was I, you may ask? I'm the rebel. I'm the bully and the punk that everyone despises. Underline the word 'despises'.

Girls usually wondered how Carly and I were best friends. They would, most of the time, stay away from me at all costs, which I didn't mind. Boys? They didn't hit on me, per say, but  rather they sort of respected me.

Unless, I bullied the nerds. This goes for both the girls and the boys.

I was basically a bully in that school, most of the time. Everywhere I stomped, I would leave pain and misery in my trail which repelled most. I'm pretty sure that I won't have a date in this year's homecoming — not like I ever have had one — and this is why, as usual, I don't go.

I've been getting dirty looks all day, which I retort by glaring or flipping them off. Or if they catch me at a good time, both.

During lunch, I had to spend it in the bathroom which was very unlike me. If I spent it in class, it would attract attention. The janitors closet was ruled out as well, because I could be seen.
