-your pov-
I woke up early one morning, around 4:00am to be exact. I sat up out of bed and looked out my window to see that the sun hadn't risen yet, there was a freshly laid blanket of snow that had cover the hard, icy ground from the weeks before. I stood up and walked into my bathroom. I took a steaming hot shower, and when I stepped out my skin was red, and had steam rolling up my body. I patted myself dry, and began brushing my light brunette hair. Knowing it was the season for static electricity, I combed a little bit of product through my hair in hopes of preventing it. The ends of my hair slightly curl as it rest by my stomach. I wasn't born with curly hair, but my hair began to curl because of my nervous habit from twisting the ends around my fingers. I walked back into my room, and grabbed my black leggings with a thick white trim at the stop that has sparkly snowflakes laced across it, forming the word "pink". I had bought them just a few weeks ago, from Victoria Secret and they were turning out to be my favorite pair. I remembered how cold it was yesterday when I decided to walk to school, so I grabbed out some thick panty hoes that matched my skin tone to put underneath my leggings for extra warmth. I then grabbed a blue long sleeve shirt that I tucked into my leggings. I grabbed a thin, white sporty jacket that zipped up and threw it on over my shirt. Not zipping it all the way up, The blue showed on my chest. I twisted my hair into a low side bun and grabbed my white fuzzy ear muffs. I swung my black duffle bag that carried my ice skates, iPod, and a small speaker over my shoulder. I grabbed my phone putting it in my jacket pocket and then walked down the stairs quietly making sure not to wake my parents. I wrote a note telling them where I was going, and stuck it to the fridge. I walked into the front room and put on my white, fuzzy boots, using my panty hoes as socks.
I walked out the door and took in a deep breath, smelling the cold winter air. It was the last day of December, which is exciting, knowing my birthday is coming up in a few weeks. I began walking across the street, and into the woods. I walked through the woods for a while, following the trail I've made in the snow from the days before. When I arrive at my destination, I sat on a fallen tree and look at the frozen pond I've been tending to all winter. I've been keeping it nice and smooth, and just perfect for ice skating. The freshly fallen snow has made a thin layer over the ice, so I took the old garage broom my dad had given me to help maintain the pond and began to sweep the thin layer of snow off the ice, being careful not to slip. I'm so grateful it is Friday, and that school was canceled due to teacher conferences. Even though it is my senior year of high school, which is suppose to be fun. I hate it, I hate everyone in my school, except my one friend Lanna, but she's all about this boy Greg now, and the only time I hang out with her anymore, is if she is trying to hook me up through a double date with her boyfriend and one of his friends. I'm not a people person, and I keep to myself . Yes I can be very silly sometimes, and outgoing, but that is when I am comfortable, and even when I am, you have to catch me in the right mood. But mostly I'm quiet and shy and prefer to be by myself.
I finished sweeping the ice, and I take out my iPod, and speaker, setting it on a big rock I rolled near the pond at the beginning of winter. I sat back down on the log and began putting on my ice skates, making sure they are tight and secure on my feet. I pull off the light blue, skate guards off of my blades, and replace them back in my bag, leaving it on the log. I step on the ice and skate over to the rock I had just placed my speaker on, and turn it on. I turn it up full volume and play the song "soon" from the movie Thumbelina, my favorite movie growing up. The song is slow and sad. it talks about knowing that there is someone out there that loves you, and wishing for them to come find you. I feel those emotions as I skate, playing out the song as if I was telling a story with my body. I jump gracefully into a split, and then land perfectly on my feet. I jump as high as I can and spin three time before landing on just one foot. I skate with my soul, and my emotions. I start to spin fast, grabbing my leg and crouching in a sitting position, I then grab my skate and stand up bringing my foot over my head and holding it, while my spin starts to slow. I let my leg down and bring it to my other ankle that is holding my weight, making my spin grow momentum again as I slowly raise my arms making an "o" shape with them. As the lasts notes of the long play, I break the spin, and let my foot that hasn't touched the ice swing back behind me, touching the ice and making me stop.
