The day passed by quickly. Mingyu wanted to bring Soojung to meet Wonwoo so they decided to see each other in front of the school and walk together to a nearby cafe.
Soojung was huffing and puffing, catching her breath as she ran to the entrance since she was a bit late. "I'm sorry" She paused to take in oxygen, "The teacher called for me." Mingyu just smiled at her and mouthed her an "okay." Suddenly, he took her hand in his. He was used to skinship with friends, he thought it was normal but little did he know that this was slowly killing poor Soojung's heart and mind. They strolled together to the cafe and had small talk every now and then.
Inside the cafe, Wonwoo was reading his pocket book and has already got himself a Taro bubble tea. "Yah, Wonwoo!" Mingyu greeted his friend who was very engrossed in the book he was reading. He looked up from the book he was holding and saw Mingyu...and Lee Soojung in front of him. "Hi." Wonwoo said awkwardly to Soojung as he rubbed the back of his neck. Soojung smiled back and said, "Hi. I'm Lee Soojung, just call me Soojung."
The trio were laughing all afternoon and they immediately became very good friends. Who knew that Wonwoo and Soojung both liked the same genres of books, liked watching horror movies even if they were scared afterwards, enjoyed making sweater paws, and many more things. They were instantly friends after today.
All of a sudden, Soojung's phone went off, she looked at the screen to see the caller: Eomma, it said. Shifting her eyes from her phone to Mingyu and Wonwoo who were just looking at her, she excused herself for awhile and went outside of the cafe.
"Eomma?" She picked up the call.
"Soojung, get going now. You have a doctor's appointment at 5, remember?" Her mother reminded Soojung and she only hummed in response. "Go home now, it's pretty late, dear." Her mother sighed through the phone. Soojung had no choice, she wanted to spend more time with the boys but she also wanted to live longer.
Soojung walked back in the cafe to tell the two, "I have to get going. I'm sorry." She expressed an apologetic look to them and the two just stood up with the bookbags slung on their shoulders. "We'll take you home!" Mingyu cheered happily and that brought a hint of happiness to Soojung's heart but she didn't want to bother them any further. "But it's ok-" Wonwoo cut her off with, "Nope. We're bringing you home and that's final!"
After 15 minutes of strolling, they had reached Soojung's house. It was the typical 2-story house in the neighborhood but with a well-kept colorful, blooming garden. Soojung unlocked the door with her house keys and before she could even pull the door, her mother was right there. "Soojung, get ready for the doctor's appointment-"
She noticed that her daughter has brought two friends with her and not to mention, both boys. "Oh. Soojung's friends, Hello. I'm Jungha, her mother." Her eyes smiled as her lips did, she was radiant and youthful and you could tell she was Soojung's mother due to the strong resemblance.
The two boys bowed in respect and grinned at her. "Ah, ne. Very pleased to meet you, Eomonim, I'm Mingyu and this is Wonwoo." Mingyu introduced the two of them. "Would you like to come in?" She invited but Wonwoo replied, "No, it's fine, Eomonim. I think you were going somewhere with Soojung and Mingyu and I also have to get going but thank you."
Soojung waved to her two friends who were outside the gate. "Mingyu, Wonwoo, thank you for today! I really enjoyed being with you two." She smiled and it seemed like the world just became brighter and more serene, Wonwoo thought. What am I even thinking? He fought with himself mentally. "I agree. Let's do this more often." Mingyu returned the smile and that made Soojung blush madly, Wonwoo saw that. She's head over heels for him, he realized.
"Wonwoo. She was talking to you." Mingyu whispered to Wonwoo who was again, spacing out. Wonwoo snapped out of his thoughts and told Soojung, "Y-yes, it's nice to have a girl friend." Soojung widened her eyes at his statement and so did Mingyu. Wonwoo realized immediately so he cleared up the misconception, "I-I mean, a girl that is a friend! Y-you know what I mean." Wonwoo shifted his gaze and he could feel heat rising to his cheeks due to embarrassment.
Soojung didn't want the atmosphere to remain awkward so she just chuckled, "Yup. Hey you two better get going, it's getting pretty dark."

While Wonwoo was working on his homework, he suddenly thought of someone. It was Lee Soojung. She lingered in his mind for the past 10 minutes. Wonwoo thought about how nice fate has been to him. He finally had someone to spaz with when he's upset with an ending of a book, or when he wanted someone to watch horror movies with, she would be there. Lee Soojung is his first female friend and will definitely be his first girl best friend.
But then another thought came into mind, a depressing one at that. She said she's leaving soon. She hasn't told Mingyu or him what she was suffering from nor has she spoken about anything related to herself that much earlier too. It was all about his and Mingyu's life. Wonwoo had to know, he was desperate and he would do anything to keep her alive. She's only met him today but Wonwoo seemed to have a special place for her in his heart already.
