Chapter 25 // Paintball

Ayano's POV
"So, everyone got your gear on?"
"Yes Yamato." we answered. Yamato was my friend that worked at Sakura Shooting. We were friends when we were younger and I helped get him together with his partner.

"Okay, everyone grab a paintball gun and we'll put the names in this hat."

Budo's POV
We picked out names and the teams were as following:

Red Team:
Ayano
Budo
Saki
Hayuto
Yamato

Blue Team:
Kokona
Shin
Mina
Sho
Yuki (some guy that works here)

"The rules are simple, if you get shot, you're out. If you're out, there are buttons inside your gear's pockets. Press a button and everyone will be alerted by their buttons. If you shoot someone else, your team gets a point. We'll play a few round so don't worry if you get out quite quickly." Yamato explained
"So like you?" Ayano laughed, so he patted her on the head
"Simply adorable." he shook his head. I didn't like it at all.
"Any questions?" Yuki chimed in, "No? Okay good. Let's play!"
Everyone ran to their positions and got ready.
"Ayano, I think he likes you." I whispered annoyed
"Yamato?" she asked so I nodded, "That's adorable Budo."
"Yamato!" I shouted
"Budo don't." she laughed
"Yeah?" he answered
"Ayano's my girlfriend. Got it?" Ayano and Yamato started laughing, "What?"
"Darling, you know Yuki on the other team?"
"What about him?" I crossed my arms
"Ayano set me up. Yuki's my boyfriend." he laughed
"Wait what?"
"I'm bisexual Budo - but I'm more interested in guys usually, so calm down." I realised that Ayano had fallen onto the ground laughing
"That would have been useful information AYANO."
"Sorry Budo, I thought you could tell. Yamato and Yuki were hardcore flirting earlier." I put out my hand to help her up and she took it.
"Sorry Yamato."
"Don't worry about it Budo. It's good to know Yan-Chan is with a guy like you." he smiled
*BUZZ*
"That sound means the game has begun. I'll go for Yuki. You two go for Mina and Sho, Saki and Hayato go for Kokona and Shin."
"Let's do this shit." I said doing a front flip to behind a tree.

Nobody's POV
Both teams progressed towards the centre ducking and diving behing every tree they could. Budo and Ayano were by far the stealthiest, followed by Sho and Mina - their rivals.
Sho and Mina had almost managed to take out Saki at one point, but like a true hero, Hayato pulled her out the way.
Hayato and Saki had definitely started feeling a connection between them, and the more they worked as a team, the stronger that connection grew.
Ayano definitely knew how to be a matchmaker. She was great at it.

Hayato's POV
"Saki, you really need to be more careful." I laughed
"Sorry Yato. I'm not good at this kind of thing.." she smiled
"Don't worry, we're just here to have fun."
"Look! It's Kokona and Shin." she whispered, ducking behind a tree
"I'll try and get Shin.." I aimed and missed a few times
"Look out!" Saki shouted, helping me avoid a shot from Kokona
"I'll take care of her.." Saki tried shooting Kokona and got extremely close, but Kokona managed to dodge them each time.
After a while, I finally shot Shin on his arm while he attempted to shoot Saki.
"Fuck!" he shouted
"You got him!" Saki came over and hugged me
"Saki.. I.. Wait, look out!" Kokona caught us off guard and tried to shoot Saki. I saw her and took the paintball for Saki. "Yep. That hurt like a bitch."
"Thanks Hayato." she said kissing me on the cheek.
"No problem." I said pressing the button
*players Shin and Hayato are now out.*
"Bye Saki." I smiled, "Go get her."
"Wait, Hayato, I need to tell you something. I really like you."
"I like you too Saki. Good luck, we can talk after this round." I smiled, walking to the other end. On my way out I heard Saki screaming happily and got an alert
*player Kokona is now out.*
Fuck yes Saki. Nice one.

Mina's POV
"Sho, Ayano and Budo are getting some really close shots. I don't think we're going to last much longer."
"We have to keep trying!" he shouted
"Sho, if we lose, I just want you to know that this was the best fake date I've ever been on." I winked
"Thanks Mina, you're the best fake girlfriend I could ever have hoped for." he laughed
Finally, Ayano shot me and I was out.
"Ballsacks!"
"Hey Mina, maybe one day we could go on a real date."
"That sounds nice Sho. I'll see you later. Good luck!" I ran off
*player Mina is now out*

Budo's POV
"Nice shot Ayano, now we just need to take out Sho."
*player Yuki is now out*
"Hi guys!" Saki said as her and Yamato approached us
"It's us 4 against Sho, we've got this in the bag!"
I was the one to land the final blow on Sho. I shot him in the leg while he was aiming for Saki.
*player Sho is now out. Red team wins.*

"We did it!" I shouted lifting Ayano up and kissing her. Saki and Yamato shared a friendly hug too.
"Well played reds." Shin smiled as we all shook hands.
We played 2 more matches and the final score was;

Red Team - 2
Blue Team - 1

"Good game guys, we have to do this again some time!"
"Definitely."
"We have some news, me and Hayato are now together! And I'm sorry Kokona.. I guess I was just jealous that you were happy without me."
"That's okay. I'd probably do the same."
Even Mina and Sho got together that day. Finally a happy ending for everyone.

Ayano's POV
"Hello? Is this Ayano Hajime?" I answered the phone and put it on speaker for Budo to hear
"Yes, how can I help?"
"Well your friends Pippi and Ryoto contacted me, I'm their landlord. I heard you two are looking for a place, and it just so happens I have one for you. I'll text you the details and you can come view it as soon as possible."
"That sounds great, thank you sir!" the call ended
"We're getting an apartment!" Budo scooped me up bridal style.
"Budo, you're the best thing that's ever happened to me. I love you."
"I love you."
