"Stupid Theo and this stupid job. They're all stupid," you mumbled.

"Would you just shut your trap, Princess? We gotta be quiet so we don't wake the guard dog." Jerome said, nodding toward the sleeping security guard at the end of the hall. Currently Theo had put you and Jerome on the most boring job ever.

You and Jerome had to grab some artifact from the Gotham City Museum and you both had never been there so you had no idea where to look.

"Handsome, how much longer do we have to keep looking?" You asked. He sighed.

"Until we find it, Gorgeous. Why? You getting bored already?" He asked with a small smirk. You smiled.

"A little," you said. He looked at the guard and pulled you down a dark hallway. "Where are we going?" You asked.

"Just shut up and stay quiet," he ordered. He led you to a room and looked around before shutting the door. He took off the jacket he was wearing and let it drop to the floor.

"Care to inform me on the plan here?" You asked. He ignored you and cupped your cheeks before pulling you into a kiss. Now you knew what he was getting at. You kissed back and smiled.

"Care for a quickie, Dear?"

"You really are a sly one, aren't you Jerome?" You asked, wrapping your arms around his neck loosely and turning your head slightly to look the other way. You kept your head in place and moved your eyes to look at him and see him smiling.

"It's one of my best qualities," he told. You kissed him and it led to a whole thing I'm not gonna write out.

While you were in the.. Well, the middle you saw a flash of light fly across the wall.

"Jerome," you gasped. He smiled into your neck.

"Oh, Baby Girl.." He said with a groan.

"Jerome, I'm serious. I think... I think I saw a guard.." You said, trying to keep a serious tone.

"No, you couldn't of possibly-" he stopped when he saw another flash of light zoom by your head. "Shit," he said. You both composed yourselves and looked out the doors window.

A guard was walking down the hall with a flashlight, starting to check every room. You were starting to panic, Jerome noticed, and he quickly hatched a plan.

"Stay on the sides of the door and when he walks in we'll sneak out behind him. All we gotta do is be quiet and we'll make it. Tell Theo we couldn't find it. Go back in a day or two. Easy," he whispered.

You nodded and saw light come into the room. The door opened and you held your breath. You looked at Jerome for comfort. He nodded, looking in your eyes. The guard walked in and began searching the room.

Jerome grabbed your hand and led you out as quiet as he could. You ran down multiple hallways, not knowing where either of you were going.

"Guess we were too loud, huh, Jerome?" You asked with a giggle.

"Hey! What're you kids doing in here?!" You turned at the voice and your eyes widened. You both tried to run faster.

Jerome, being the goon he is, pulled out a gun and tried shooting at the guard as you both ran.

"Jerome! He's got a gun too! He can shoot us now and get away with it!" You yelled, scared out of your wits. Jerome made a sharp left turn and dragged you with him.

"He's old and fat, he'll never catch us! Promise, Sweetheart!" He yelled back. There was a bang and a gushy sound and a groan. You knew you didn't groan, so who did?

You looked to Jerome to see a hole in the side of his shirt and some deep red dribbling down it. You gasped and led him down many different halls, losing the guard, and sat him down in a different dark room.

"Jerome, baby, you're gonna be alright. It's just a graze. You should be fine. It'll be an easy fix. Promise. We'll make it out." You rambled.

"Doll, this might be the last time we see each other. I don't want to see you cry, alright? It's pretty deep, Sweetheart. I'm bleeding out pretty heavily. Just kiss me and run, okay?" By now you could hear the jingle of keys getting louder.

"Jerome I can't just leave you... I.. I love you Jerome. I need you with me.." That made his eyes widen for the first time that night. You'd never exchanged those words before, and now that you'd said it now of all times broke his heart.

"I love you too, Princess. I really do. But if you really need me and love me like you say you do, you'll run. You'll go back to Theo and tell him I'll be back. I'll find you. I promise. Just run and don't look back, alright? Just run and hide and get out without a scratch. Lay low for a while and when I'm back I'll stick out like a sore thumb for you," he was grabbing your face now and a little pool of blood was below him, getting larger with every drip, "I'll always find you. But for now you just gotta run." Tears were rolling down your cheeks and you nodded quietly. You both kissed until your lungs begged for air.

"Don't leave me, okay? Stay alive. I need you with me, alive and well. I love you, J. I really do." You kissed him once more and looked down.

"I swear I won't stop looking for you. I'll find you. Who else will I have to bug, huh doll?" He looked at your face quietly. "Alright, you better get out of here. The old fart'll be here any minute." He said solemnly. You nodded and wiped at your face. You stood and kissed his head. You grabbed his hand and kissed it many times. "(Y/n), just go. You're making it harder for yourself. I'll.. I'll be fine." He shook your hand around and already looked a little dazed.

"Put pressure on the wound, it'll slow the bleeding."

"Always looking out for me," he said with a smile. He let go of your hand and held his wound. You smiled softly.

"I love you, J." You kissed his head again and walked out and ran down the hall, hiding behind the corner, just missing the guard.

"I found you! You're going to jail you rat!" The guard yelled. There was a loud bang and you let out a soft wail. You ran before the guard could leave the room and ran back to Theos place, tears running down your face.

"He's never gonna find me," you sobbed.

Jerome sat on the ground, the guards dead body sitting in front of him. He heard your wail and frowned.

"I'll find you, Doll. Promise." He said, trying to get up. He started limping to the door. "I just gotta get fixed up first."
