"Why? What happened?" I asked her, trying to remain calm.
"Well, for the past five weeks or so she's been going to cooking classes. She said that she wanted to learn how to cook so that she make something for me for a change. At first, I didn't think anything of it. She would go once a week for about an hour or so and then come home. But lately, she's been going to these 'cooking classes' pretty much every other day for most of the evening and sometimes into the night." Mia explained while tears continued to fall down her face.
I had noticed that Callie was gone a lot more than usual, but I never thought that it was because she was cheating on Mia. She wasn't the type of person to go looking for certain things in other places. If she loved you, then she would love you forever whether you like or not. However, it was suspicious that she would be gone into the night since she was very afraid of the dark. Whatever she's been doing must be really important to her if she's going to still be out past 8.
"I'll talk to her about it, okay? Don't worry about it too much, Mia, everything's going to work out." I patted her on the head. She smiled sadly before going back inside the building.
'I hope for both of their sakes that Callie really is taking those damn cooking classes.' I thought bitterly before following her back to the apartment.
As soon as I got back to our apartment I walked straight into Callie's room and pulled her into the hall.
"What the fu-" She started. I silenced her by putting my index finger on her lips to which she bit my hand.
"Ow. I'm going to ignore that you just did that and get right to the point. Mia thinks you're cheating on her and she is really torn up about it, so if you are then I will seriously injure you." I said rushing the last sentence.
Her expression fell into a look of shock and hurt. She grabbed my hand and started pulling me up the building's stairs.
'This again.' I internally whined. When we got out onto the roof I sighed.
"How does everyone know about this roof but me!" I yelled at the sky. Usually Callie would give me some sort of sarcastic reply such as "Because you're a hermit who spends all of his time on tumblr", but she just sat down on the roof and cried.
"Cal..." I said softly. I felt bad for not being more sensitive and gentle with the whole situation, but I wasn't very pleased with how upset Mia was. I walked over to her and sat down beside her, then hugged her tightly.
We didn't speak for a good ten minutes while she cried into my shirt, but that was okay because I understood how much she needed to get all of the emotions out.
"Thank you, Rowan. You're too nice. If anyone else thought their friend's girlfriend was cheating on them, they would not be this nice." She said pulling away from me to wipe her eyes.
"You're my best friend, Cal. You'll always have the benefit of the doubt with me." I replied.
"Thanks," She sniffled. "I love you, Ro." I patted her on the head.
"I love you too, Cal. Now, what's with the 'cooking classes'?"
"Well, at first I actually went to cooking classes, but I still sucked so I quit and instead I've been using that time to plan something really big for Mia." She smiled weakly at the ground. "I wanted to make her really happy and I ended up really hurting her instead."
"If you don't mind my asking, what have you been planning?" I asked her cautiously. She smiled hugely and immediately perked up.
"I want to propose to her!" She squealed excitedly before returning to her previous sad expression. "But I highly doubt she'll want to have anything to do with me right now, let alone say yes."
I grabbed Callie's shoulder's and looked her in the eye.
"Cal, she loves you. If she didn't she wouldn't be so upset about this. I'll see what I can do, but you need to show her that you love her just as much." I pulled her into quick hug before helping her up. "Now, go get ready to be engaged!"
