"Sam."
His voice kept on ringing in my head like a broken record. It was like begging, looking for answers. His voice was lonely and sad. Longing.
It's 3:08 in the morning and I'm still on the floor hugging my knees. I could not sleep. I don't want to. A lot of heavy thoughts keep running inside my head.
Why is there a gunshot before that voicemail ended and who is that guy that kept on leaving messages in my voicemail.
And why he called me Sam? Maybe he was wrong because I'm Millie not Sam. It's so confusing it's making my head hurts.
I stood up from my bedroom floor and walked to the small kitchen. I opened the drawer and with a trembling hands, I took my medicines. I slumped on the floor again and wrapped my hands around my knees.
I'm still worried, what if the person who's looking for me find me and just kill me? What did I done wrong to them. Maybe it's a mistaken identity?
I'm overthinking and I feel like I'm going crazy and crazier everytime. What will I do now?
If ever I leave this place. Where will I go? I'm so scared for myself. I started crying ang let it all out. My chest tightening making it harder to breathe. Depression is crawling now in my system. First, I had a memory lost, they sent me here away from them. Second, there's this voicemail and third, someone wanted to kill me.
Now is my life worth living for?
I balled my fist and put it in my mouth. Making sure I could not make any sounds. Tears keep flowing that there's no use of wiping them. Why I am always crying. Damn.I'm in my deep thoughts when a sound startled me. I froze and my heart started to pound inside my chest.
Second ring.
I bit my trembling finger, deciding if I'll answer the call or ignore it.
Third ring.
But then they said, curiosity kills the cat. I finally went to the living room and answered.
Static.
I heard a static sounds. Until I heard a familiar voice.
"Millie? Millie, are you there?" With a concerned and panicky voice he asked.
I recognized him but I am not quite sure.
"Millie, answer me! I can hear you breath!" He sounds so worried and he is starting to get in my nerves.
"Why you called?" I finally managed to asked.
"Where are you?"
"I'm in--"
"Listen. Listen carefully." He sounds so worried and he didn't let me finish my words.
"I'm listening." I said. With his voice like that, it adds up to the fear I'm feeling right now.
"Okay. Listen carefully. If you are in your room. Don't go outside--"
"Why? I--"
"I said just listen! I don't have any time!" He screamed and I was taken aback. I clammped my hands in my mouth.
After a minute of silence he talked again.
"Okay. Just please listen." Frustration clear in his voice. I keep my mouth shut and let him talk.
"I know you're troubled. I saw you last night running, so I decided to follow you. I saw how frustated they are to find you and those guys really wanted to kill you. That's why I'm asking you stay inside, I'm making things out for you. I arrested the one guy who chased you. We are in a place that you should not know and we are interrogating him. When it is safe, I will come to you, I will explain everything to you. Wait for me, okay?"
Eyes wide and mouth shut. My brain can't process the things he just said.
"Millie?" He asked when I didn't answered.
"Okay." I responded.
"Please be safe." He said and ended the call.
"Please be safe too."
I said even though he cannot hear me anymore.
