I checked the clock at my bedside, 11:30 p.m. it read. The full moon rose higher into the sky as the time ticked by, I got up and went to my dresser. I pulled out the dress I had made when Haven and I decided to put our plan into action. Tight black bodice that went down until the dress flared out by my hips, completely black satin. My hair was brushed until it was tumbling down my back in gorgeous golden waves. I wore a pair of silk black slippers which each had wooden knives in them. In the bodice of my dress I hid a long black painted wooden stake.

I opened my door and everything was deathly quiet, I shut my door all my senses on high alert for anyone. I pumped full of blood and my eyes were cold sapphire daggers the plan was to kill anyone who got in our way. I slipped silently into Haven’s totally black painted room and waited patiently for her to come out of her private bathroom.

“Is that you Riley?” Haven’s whisper came out of the darkness and she appeared in front of me. Her black hair tumbling down her back in the same fashion mine did and her dress the same except for her piercing green eyes.

“Are you ready?” I asked and she nodded a cold smile forming on her lips. I was far from that innocent blond girl who walked into this Manor two years ago. That girl was sweet, gentle, soft, weak, I’d changed my entire life had changed. Here I was planning a murder and not even feeling sorry about it. I was strong, vicious, powerful, scheming and a ruthless killer now. I nearly wept for my younger self, my innocence from this world of death and pain. I was so shielded and my innocence was dead. I was broken by this world; I was never supposed to be in this world.

Riley Harrison was supposed to graduate high school with her boyfriend Sean, find a great college she loved, graduate from college, grow up marry Sean , have a family, and visit Derek for each holiday. Instead, Sean died, I never graduated high school, Derek hated me, and I had no idea what happened to my two best friends. Rose and Marni those two fiery red heads.

By now Haven and I had stopped in front of Jaguar’s room only to find it empty. We instantly scoured every corner before deeming it empty. “Outside, maybe one of the help heard us and warned him.” Haven said suspiciously and moved to the window.

“Duck!” I screamed and threw myself on the ground as a huge dark brown wolf lunged through the window. My eyes darted and I knew we were actually dealing with a werewolf not just Jaguar. I twirled grabbing the wooden knives from my slipper and stabbing it into the animal’s stomach, its silver eyes dimmed and it slumped onto its side. The animal’s form shimmered and Holly was laying on the floor her face pale as she bled.

“It’s the full moon the werewolves are transforming.” I spat through my teeth knowing it was no longer safe to go outside.

“Jaguar has to be killed tonight!” Haven shouted at me turning around, my eyes caught sight of something wooden flashing through the air. There was no time for me to cry out a warning she was struck in the back, and hit the ground face first unmoving. I didn’t bother to see if she was a live she was dead and I had to honor her last wish, I leaped out the window assuming the shape of a giant dark furred wolf as I ran.

My nose was glued to the ground as I caught Jaguar’s scent and I followed it running swiftly toward the back of the Manor. My eyes narrowed into slits as I saw him surrounded by wolves, and instinctively I lunged at the nearest wolf my teeth closing around its neck as I killed it.

“Riley, stop!” Jaguar shouted but I went on attacking again and again. My internal clock warned me five minutes till midnight, I ripped the wolves faster until I was faced with a blue-green eyed one. Everything in my screamed at me to attack except my heart. Sean! It was crying out, for all my might I couldn’t do it. All I needed was to distract the wolf and I could attack.

I threw my head back letting out a howl that rose up into the crisp cool night I was singing, “Sean! Sean!  I know your here, I can feel that you’re here! Come back to me!!!!! Come home, our brothers and sisters beg you, we love you!”

Another howl rose up twining with mine in the wind, our songs bonded together, flying through the air up toward the full moon. Melodious, powerful, we were soul singing. Singing with the power of our hearts behind us, or songs reached their climax ending with one earthshaking, soul destroying note that cried over the wind. More powerful than the moon’s spell, more powerful than anything out bodies experienced.

I let my cry die down before looking at the blue-green eyed wolf with compassion before I lunged ripping free of my wolf form and landing on Jaguar. “Riley, what are you doing?” Jaguar cried to me panicking before the sound of running paws surrounded us and then we were surrounded by throwing stakes and werewolves. I knew what was happening before it happened, the werewolves were attacking us and we were going to die.

My scream echoed through the night sky followed with the wolf’s victorious cries and the sounds of wood hitting flesh before Jeremy stood over me and Jaguar and aimed his stake at my heart. I screamed, “No!” The sound of a wooden stake hitting and sinking into flesh found my ears and I opened my eyes seeing Jaguar hitting the ground his body still already and a stake in his heart.

Pain like I’d never known shot through me and I threw myself into my wolf form, I stood over Jaguar. Throwing my heart and soul into a piercing howl that sang through the air, tearing toward the other wolves, blowing others back with the force of it. Tears streamed out of my wolf eyes as the pain finally hit me. Sean was gone he wasn’t coming back, my parents were gone and they weren’t coming back, and Jaguar who tried to help me and I’d turned on him. He was dead and he wasn’t coming home.

I let loose a sobbing cry, almost like a scream but a howl a plea. A plea for help for something anything, I kept it up baying to the moon. Sobbing, howling, screaming, crying to the moon begging for all this to have not have happened.

My howl ended with a choked cry then sound of all my selves, all my shapes screaming out for another chance to make everything right. “DEAR GOD PLEASE!” Thunder shook the earth and lightning seared across the sky striking me and my scream was all I heard before my vision became black and my body sank down and my mind went blank. As my body was filled with singing of angels and the haunting tune of death. My last thoughts as I gave up the battle? This was all my fault. I’m so sorry Sean, Jaguar, Haven, Holly, Aubrey, Andrew, William, Sebastian, Samuel, Marni, Rose, Blake, everything was my fault…. I am so sorry. I made such a mess out of everything, I let the darkness and evil beat me, I wasn’t strong enough. That’s when the light began burning me and the sound crying of angel’s surrounded me like falling rain.
