Ross and Elliot were asleep on the couch when I came down stairs. I know I said we should sleep all together, because of emergency reasons; however I felt shut off. So I go back upstairs into my room, and kick off my shoes. I wrap myself in blankets, and strangely, sleep comes quickly.
----
I wake up around 9 am, and go into the bathroom. I wash my face and braid my hair, so this is my first day in the world of zombies. I look at myself in the mirror, blue eyes stare back at me.
I take a deep breath, and go downstairs. Elliot is asleep while Ross sits next to him, eating an apple.
"Good Morning, Captain Miles." Ross says with a grin.
"Hey." I head into the kitchen, and grab an apple as well.
"What's the plan today?" Ross asks with a mouthful of apple.
I look at Elliot, "We should get him back home."
Ross looks at Elliot with sad eyes.
"Then it would just be us." She says quietly.
Elliot stretches, making Ross jump, "Hey guys." He groan sleepily.
Ross takes his hand, "We need to get you home."
Elliot sits up straight, "When?"
"Now." Ross answers. She stands and grabs her bag from the door, and throws the other one to me.
"Come on." She snaps.
Elliot picks up his hunting knife, and I attach my holster to my hip.
First day of being alive with Zombies.
----
Ross walk a head of us, her knife is out, I know she's angry. She really likes Elliot, and having him go back home while all of this is happening isn't her ideal plan. We get to the edge of town,
And we all stop. Laying in the ditch, was a old man with his stomach ripped open. And a bullet hole in his head.
Ross clicks her tongue, "He's not coming back." And she continues walking.
My feet walk past the bloody scene, but my eyes don't. Elliot is walking instep with Ross, his hand in hers, as they whisper back and forth.
We come to Elliot's house, Elliot kisses Ross quickly, "Remember." He says then goes inside.
Ross stands there for a moment, she looks back at me, "I'm done now." She says.
I reach my hand out to her, "Let's go home." Ross nods, and we walk hand in hand back home.
