I Swear This Was an Accident

*~*~*

Lunch that day was a lot less lonely than with just Sarah and Ness for company. It wasn't that I needed more friends or anything, it's that the small table was made for six people and we just didn't fill it. That day though, Ty invited us to sit with him and the guys. So at lunch we actually had enough friends to sit at one of the bigger tables.

I wasn't too sure how I felt about it, I liked my no-attention small group, but I was willing to give it a shot. So when the bell rang at one, Jack, Andrew, Stephen, Cameron, Brian and Ty - 'the guys' - all went to their usual table that Sarah, Ness and I squeezed into along with a girl called Maria who's friends had all gone out.

She'd hurt her ankle in PE but from what I'd heard she was trying to make something happen between her and one of the guys, maybe this was all part of the plan. It wasn't as awkward as I thought, I was forgetting that Sarah and Ness had been going to school with these people for four years now.

The way things worked out I ended up with Maria and Cameron on one side of me and Ty on the other. After that lunch? I was almost one hundred percent confident that the person she liked was Cameron.

She had fell into her seat, having to grab him to stop her from falling, that was her first accident. She then spit a piece of her sandwich out onto the table. Immediately after, she shot a glance at Cameron and sighed in relief. I don't think he noticed, but I did and so did Andrew.

We made eye contact and laughed a little, but we didn't tell him what happened. Maria went red as sunburn when these thing happened, and stuttered and stammered her way through conversations with him. No doubt about it, Maria liked Cameron.

She got a bit more confident when they guys started talking about rugby, "Rugby is so great," She said with confidence, I could tell she was in her element but nobody else quite believed that she did watch the rugby until she started commenting on the Scotland vs South Africa game and began to say things that I only ever heard coming out of my Uncle's mouth.

Maria locked eye contact with Cameron, "And rugby players are so," She didn't finish, instead she just sighed lightly. Cameron shifted his weight around in his seat, he was a rugby player and I think he was catching on where this was going.

"Hey, Alyssa?" Ty tapped my shoulder, which immediately got my attention. I turned to face him, my eyes were wide and I instantly sat up straight. It was force of habit,  when I lose concentration I start to day dream but when I was snapped back in I was at  ninety degree angle again. Something Sarah and Ness constantly teased me about.

Ty was holding a Kit-Kat in his right hand, "Want a bit?" He offered, waving it about to tempt me.

I bit my lip, I wanted to say no and be good but I was being offered free chocolate that was really hard to say no to. I fiddled with my hair whilst I decided, "Yeah, go on then," I replied, holding my hand out eagerly. My voice came out scratchy and deep. I cleared my throat and felt the fire in my cheeks. He laughed out loud and I scoffed, "Shut up!" I said jokingly.

"Want or not?" He shook the chocolate around.

"Want," I replied like a kicked puppy, making him chuckle again. His laugh was the sound of velvet.
