Hey guys! I've been reading through and editing my story instead of studying for exams in three weeks! Woo!

What Have I Just Done?

*~*~*

I huffed as I aggressively pushed my English folder into my small blue locker. It was by far the worst subject I take. I wasn't bad at it or anything, but it was a lot harder to pass than others. I had realised over the past few days whilst talking to everyone that I did give myself a harder time regarding school. I wasn't happy until I got 85% or more.

I closed the door and turned to face the sandy-haired Ty a couple of feet from me. "Hey," He looked up and greeted me with that odd two-fingered wave, making me smile. I leaned my head on my locker, I liked that mine was on the top row. As sympathetic as I felt for the first years that had to sit down to get to their locker, I wasn't swapping my anytime soon.

"Hey," I said softly, "How're you?" I loved being back in Scotland, I could talk fast and sort of slang again. It had taken me a while to get into the rhythm of it again, but it came naturally now in school.

"Yeah, alright," He turned the small key, "You good?" I nodded and pushed myself off of the stack of lockers as he dawdled towards me.

I waited until I was closer to him and said in a low voice, "T-" I stopped, his hand brushed my arm on its way through his unstyled hair. The spark prickled up to my shoulder, I gasped and tried to quickly move on, "Tonight?" I asked.

He pulled his arm in tight and continued to walk as close to me. I smiled again, "Yeah," He nodded, my smile grew and I coaxed a grin from him too.

"You have nice smile, Ty," I mused, not intentionally out loud but you learn to roll with the punches when you speak before you think as often as I did. Luckily, I didn't have to work out how to proceed. Unluckily, it was because Jason had sent one of his cronies to talk to me. A boy I didn't recognise tapped me on the shoulder, "Alyssa?"

I turned only my head to look at him, "Yes?" I responded impatiently.

"Can we help you, Connor?" Ty had stepped in his direction, forcing me to shuffle to the right.

"Jason wants to talk to you, Alyssa," He nodded his head towards me, "If that's okay with you, Typhan?" It was a question that seemed innocent, but I sensed the edge under it. Ty had his back straight, he looked at me to wait for my decision. He was like my bodyguard.

"It's a'right," I told him, "I'll see you second," I told him. We had R.E. together on Fridays, but unfortunately, I sat at the other side of the classroom from him. I felt his eyes linger on my back as I walked off with Connor, I stole I glance back around and caught the tail end of his turning his head. I sighed. Maybe I was just crazy.

"What does Jason even want?" I said sharply, but Connor didn't seem to know the answer. He just shrugged and made a noise that had the same number of syllables as 'I don't know'. so I didn't ask again.

"Alison, right?" I heard Jason's arrogance rear up before I registered that the voice belonged to him.

"I've been going here for five days," I said slowly, "I am in four of your eight classes and my name is Alyssa,"  He rolled eyes minutely. I would have loved to say it was because 'no-one ever spoke to him like that' but this was a pretty rich town, I thought maybe someone would have.

"Sure," He dismissed me and I didn't have the strength in me to fire something back, "So, the other day, I mean, I get that you're new here and it must be stressful, so I'm gonna let you off the hook." He sounded generous, like he actually believed that what he was doing was a favour, "We should start over," He said, a surprising genuine tone to his voice. I fell for it and shook his moist hand.

"Okay," I sighed, "Sounds good," I was ready to leave. We were done. I suppose I should have apologised for flooring him but he was being a douche so I decided to keep it shut.

"So," The word trapped me in the cage that was this conversation, "I'm Jason Arnold, and my father is the co-CEO of one of David Chaplin's major three companies. You know Chaplin, right?" He reminded me of Joey in that movie 10 Things I Hate About You, I tried not to laugh.

"I think I've heard of him," I smiled, choking my giggle back further.

"Well my dad makes a lot of the important decisions for it, maybe you could come over one day and I could tell you more about how I'm going to work there too?" He asked.

"Sorry Jason," I would have felt bad shutting him down, if it wasn't for the cockiness that he just oozed, "Not really my thing. See ya around," I smiled and left without giving him the chance to suck me back in.

I scanned the hall and found Ness and Sarah standing with Brian and Ty, Cameron came out from  the bathroom behind me, "Hey Alyssa," He called, "Talking to Jerk-Off?" His eyebrows came down to meet his lashes. I dismissively shook my head and he dropped it, thankfully.

"Where are- oh I see them," He went on his tip-toes and put his hand on my shoulder to balance, but there was no tingle this time. I knew what was happening, or at least I thought I did. Couldn't be sure until I consulted my most trusted and helpful source of advice: Yahoo! Answers.

*~*~*

Damn.

I was on my phone in R.E. because 1) if the teacher caught me, he would just tell me nicely to put it away and chuckle 2) I wasn't missing anything because I was meant to be watching a movie and 3) it was a bad one.

It didn't take long for my curiosity to strike and my thumbs tapped away until I was looking at an question asked by SpottedLeopard5 who wanted to know if her symptoms meant she liked this boy. According to the Yahoo! community she did.

I read through her list:

Can't maintain eye contact - check.

Fireworks when we touch - check.

Giddiness when he smiles at me - check.

Even more when it is because of me - check.

Constantly on my mind - check.

Shit. I thought to myself, and couldn't help but allow my eyes to wander across to his lively hair; his surprisingly neat eyebrows; those deep eyes; his button nose; that faint moustache and his lips. I paused on his lips, for longer than I'd meant to. Longer that I was supposed to let myself. I caught the eye of Maria, who sat next to me, she followed my line of sight to Ty.

Her jaw dropped and her eyes brightened, she mouthed, "Ty?!" to me and I bit my lip and blushed. Thank God it was dark. I lightly elbowed her arm and signed a shush back to her. "Just you pay attention to the movie," I whispered harshly. She turned back to the projector, but the small smile stayed on her lips. What have I just done?

*~*~*

Sorry for this being a bit short. I make you guys wait and then this? It felt like a good place to stop. I want to get into detail about the party and it would have been too long if I did.

Thanks for reading! ~twr
