I sat in the corner of the room as the old hag sat in the middle of the room glaring at me as a nurse cleaned up her face. I stuck out my tongue at her and turned around facing the corner thinking of what else they would do to Cyan if I screwed up again. I hugged my knees and rested my chin on them as I remembered her bleeding arm; there was a red hot sword on which they used to slice her little arm to the bone. I felt my eyes sting and closed my eyes tightly holding back tears.

“Bliss” The old hag hissed as I heard the nurse leave the room, “Stand child, I must show you why I need you to be here.” I listened to her movements expecting her to say something else, but she didn’t letting silence driving me nuts.

“Ugh, fine,” I stood up and turned to face her. My eyes widened as the old hag held out old books and drawings of the legendary pureblood. “These... the books.... they are...”

“Yes, they are the records humans and gargoyles wrote in the times before Adze appeared.” She gently placed them down and handed me the thickest book, “go to the last page, Bliss.” And I did.

“No...” I gasped and stared terrified at the page, “t-this can’t be! You’re setting me up you old hag, aren’t you!?” I shouted closing the book and dropping it with a loud thump. “Stop it, let Cyan and Kai go and leave me alone!” I walked toward the door as she stopped me with her loud truthful words.

“If it were my choice I would have chosen someone more obedient than a pathetic and violent 13 year old girl!” She walked up to me and placed her hand on my shoulder and said in a low tone, “Bliss, they have chosen you, and no one else will be able to accomplish what you can.” She then stepped back as I turned around to look at her.

“So... Now I have to...” My voice cracked and I walked to the book and sat in front of it, afraid to open it.

“Go ahead; open it, read it out loud.” She said as she sat in front of me, staring at me.

I nodded and began to read from the middle, “... a pureblood born from half-bloods shall go on quest given to her by time. Prophecies have told that she shall slay a dragon, or defeat a whole army of creatures but truth be told she will have to fight to the death. She will have three allies go with her on this quest, the prince, the joker and the clever one. Without one of these allies the pureblood shall fail and death will come to all.

The pureblood would be determined ready once she has kept control on her first black out. Time will only tell her age, we cannot but we know well that she will keep control and give happiness to all of Labyrinth. . .” I sighed and closed the book setting it aside. “Old Hag, what the hell is this quest?”

“Not even I know, it’s a mystery to us all but all we know is that we cannot waste anymore time...” She looked up at me and sighed, I didn’t notice until later that her face has completely healed, “I have a name, Bliss, call me Nimbus.”

“Nimbus... nah I’m going to stick to Old hag,” I stood up and walked to the window. “So... how much time do I have to say goodbye to everyone...” I asked peeking through the curtain.

“I’ll say about, now.” She answered as she struggled to stand up.

“Okay, so then where do I start or where do I go to?” I asked as I helped her stand.

“Bliss,” she laughed a little and patted my back, “Just go, say your farewells.” She walked away and left the room as I began to open the window. I jumped out the window and began to make my way through the village, looking for the hospital.

                                                                        ~*~

“Where is Cyan?” I asked the 15 men who were standing in front of the counter. None of them answered so I spit at their feet staring into their eyes and walked toward the waiting room, no one tried to stop me.

“Bliss...” a familiar voice called out from ahead, “Bliss, over here!” I turned to my right and saw Kai standing by a door.

“KAI” I shouted and ran into his arms and began to cry. He gently rubbed my back and told me it was okay, “It isn’t ok Kai, I have to go to this unknown journey with these three strangers and... Kai, I hurt Cyan...”

“No you didn’t Bliss, they hurt her.” He kissed my head and stepped back opening the door, “plus, I’m not the one you came to say goodbye to.” I stepped closer to the door and peeked to only see Cyan lying in a bed wearing nothing but a boring white piece of cloth that fell over her body and a cast wrapped around her left arm.

“Bliss...” She quickly jumped out of the bed and wrapped her broken arm and healthy arm around my neck, “I heard you will have to leave at moonrise... I was afraid you wouldn’t have been able to come in visit...”

“Cyan, I would give the last second of my life to only see you one more time before departure, so never worry about that sweetie...” I lifted her up and kissed her cheek, “don’t forget about our connection, we will always be able to connect no matter the distance.” She giggled and I felt her body loosen up, she was tired. “Good night Cyan, before you know it, I will be back. Sweet Dreams...” I gently laid her down on her back and drowned her thin small body in thick blankets knowing how cold she gets. Her eyes were closed and her breathing was slow and calm, I then kisses her forehead gently and sang a song; the only song I could remember from my abandoned past:

There’s no light on this night,

Not one has cried without a fight.

Don’t cry; don’t fear, I’m here for you,

No matter how far I go.

The flower of life has bloomed from you,

Its beauty has made this night shine bright.

Your smile your laugh is its sun,

With you it needs no other light.

This bond is of you and me,

You gave me hope I never believed.

You created this happy dream,

In which I call the flower of life.

A tear rolled down my cheek and I left, just like that, to a new beginning. Somewhere deep inside I had a feeling this old life style has ended forever, I will never be able to turn back but maybe, just maybe, everything will turn out alright
