Chapter 8
Scarlet placed her books away and sighed. Memories of the day flooded her mind, how Blaze looked when they talked about her. How his eyes were to light up when she looked at him in the eye. The poem had sank into her mind permanently; probably because it was written by Blaze, that's why. She hadn't the courage to ask him who the you in the poem was. She was afraid that, what if the you in the poem wasn't me? She thought. But what about what she heard the other day? Scarlet do you think you can be my girlfriend? Is it real? Or was she just hearing things?
She is stuck in confusion. It was then when she realised that Blaze is so unreadable. He's not like other typical boys; he's special. To me, he is. She told herself, he's the best thing that's ever happened to me that has yet to happen. She smiled at her own foolish choice of words. Her phone buzzed on the table and she took a peep at the screen:
Jordan-
Hey, wanna go out for some Starbucks?
She smiled and soon, her smile turned into a frown. She knew that there's something more than just Starbucks. She also thinks that Jordan is possibly crushing on her. Because he had joined her Literature group and created a Whatsapp group. Scarlet knew of his intentions; he wanted her number, so as to talk to her. Or maybe she's just overthinking. Just as she was about to type a reply, another message came in;
Jordan-
C'ya at the field near your place!
She sighed and typed in an okay. She didn't want to be rude. If Jordan is really crushing on her, she's going to just tell him she doesn't like him, but they could be best friends. It's not going to hurt much; right?
She threw on a hoodie, jeans and beanie then made her way through the door.
Before informing her foster grandparents of course.
Meanwhile at Blaze's, he was alone again. He looked at the medals and trophies on the shelf, all clean and bright without any scratches. They were all dazzling, as if showing off their beauty to other people looking. But there was only Blaze.
He was waiting for a text from her, but it never came.
The question is; do you even care?
Do you even know?
Will you always be there;
and never let me go?
He read that stanza off the screen and; it made so much sense. Will she? Would she? Could she? He questioned himself. Maybe she would, maybe she could. But what if he's her Romeo but she's not his Juliet? What if...
He couldn't bring himself to think anymore of this. When will he ever have the courage to tell her that he likes her? He wasn't sure about what's holding him back. The pride or the fact that he's afraid that he might hurt her?
But, there is one fact that Blaze doesn't know of: he has competition because; Jordan, is starting to like Scarlet too. And if he doesn't hurry, Jordan is going to try impress her in every way possible so as to make her his.
