A MONTH AND A HALF (ROUGHLY) HAS PASSED BY SINCE THE LAST CHAPTER (BED OF LIES PART ONE), SO NOW IT'S FEBRUARY 13TH, THE DAY BEFORE VALENTINE'S DAY.
Tristan's POV
Did I really think that I'd have a great Valentine's Day? Sometimes I surprise myself with my stupidity.
Let's start from the beginning (February 13th).
I was getting my books out of my locker when Zoë came up and scared me (again..).
"ZOË!" I screamed at her. "I THOUGHT WE TALKED ABOUT YOU DOING THAT."
She just started laughing so freaking hard that she almost fell flat on the floor. I wanted to punch her, but I'm more of a gentlemen than that.
Zoë recovered from her laughing state, took me by the arm, and dragged me into an empty classroom.
"Zo, what the hell?" I said and clinched my arm. "But wow, your grip is really strong, I'm impressed. You should really cash in on that, I know a fantastic trainer that-"
"You're stalling." She said, seeing right through me.
"Wh-wh-what do you mean?" I asked, hoping she'd drop it, but I knew her too well to actually think she would.
"Tris? What's going on? You've been avoiding me. You've been avoiding everybody, even Miles. What's going on? You look like you want to curl up in a ball and cry, but also punch every single person you see."
"Oh believe me, I wanted to punch you when you scared me just a second ago." I said with a half-serious tone.
Zoë came over to me and we sat down on two desks by the door. She patted and rubbed my shoulder, knowing that I was really stressed and emotional. It's just a best friend thing I guess.
"What's going on with you? You've been acting really weird for-"
"A month and a half?" I interrupted.
Her eyes got a little bigger, and her expression changed to one of suspicion.
"Yes.... how did you know that's what I was going to say?" She asked questioningly.
I guess it was now or never. It's been killing me because I haven't told anyone, so maybe this'll help.
"Because that's around the same time when I started my thing with Yates again.." I said bluntly and forcibly.
I was facing away from Zoë because I really didn't want to see her initial reaction. She told me to run away from it all the first time, and I didn't listen, so I had no clue what I was expecting.
Silence filled the room (such a reoccurring theme with me and other people..) for about 30 seconds.
"Unbelievable," Zoe said in disbelief. "Why are you doing this to yourself?"
I didn't answer her though.
"Tristan. You have to get your head out of your ass."
I looked at her with disgust.
"Oh my god Tris, you didn't know I didn't mean it literally," Zoë said annoyingly, but with a hint of humor. "Do what you want then, I guess."
"That's it?" I asked surprised. "You're not going to give me the whole 'You're such a bad person and need to learn how to really treat a guy' lecture or any of that crap?"
"Nope, not this time. You'll just ignore the advice I'd anyways." She said as she started to walk out the door. But before she left, while leaning on the doorframe, she said:
