Part 4: Picking Sides

The two guards escorted Jorge and Lilith downstairs with folded comforters and fluffy pillows in hand once they arrived at their cell the guards handed them the comfort items. Lilith simply said "Thank you." while Jorge followed with a stern "Thanks." The guards tipped their hats and exited the hallway. Greg could be seen in a sleeping position so Lilith and Jorge thought that he was asleep, Jorge also looked down the hallway to see if the guards were gone. He then finally spoke "What do you think of this place?"

Lilith unfolded her blankets and spoke simultaneously "It's safety until we find somewhere else."

"Do you not want to stay here?" Jorge said while proceeding to make his bed.

"Something about this place sets me off...like something bad."

"What should we do?"

Greg's voice spoke "Escape," he sat up from his sleeping position to then say "Do it while you can. You have an open door..literally."

Lilith then had an idea "When Leo comes down here tomorrow to check on us we tell him we want to choose sides. I then ask him to release Greg to escort us to his base, but here's the thing once we are all out we just go. If he sends an escort with us we kill that person, take their weapons, and go."

Jorge looked as if he was considering it "What if he sends more people than we can handle with us?"

"We will see then."

Greg simply started to laugh "You two are actually considering this?"

"Yeah," Lilith said "Its the best chance you have at getting out of here."

Greg smiled a wicked grin "Lets fuckin' do it."

Jorge then said "Let's get some sleep first."

"Yeah," Lilith said while laying down "This is the safest place we have slept in so long."

"I second that. Probably the most comfortable," Jorge said back to her.

Greg could be heard from the other cell "Speak for yourselves."

They all chuckled a little bit and was quickly silent as everyone went fast asleep. The morning came and Jorge got up before Lilith. He got up from his bed to stretch his bones and muscles. He walked out of the cell starving as can be. Not concerned with what time it is Jorge walked out of the hallway to see the main room was still empty however he could hear indistinct chattering on the floor above him. Jorge walked up the stairs to be met with the aroma of breakfast, especially bacon. The whole room was filled with people sitting at the tables eating and socializing. He simply smiled and noticed Leo was at the door talking with a pretty woman. She had short blonde hair that reached to her upper chin and a soft, British complexion with a height a few inches taller than Lilith. Jorge walked up to Leo and the woman. The woman looked at Jorge, Leo noticed it and turned around to see him "Ah Jorge, Good morning." 

"Morning," Jorge's eyes glanced at the woman as she said "Morning, who is this Leo?"

"He is a wanderer named Jorge. He stumbled upon our facility with someone he was traveling with, where is she by the way?"

"She is still asleep. She needs as much as she can."

"I agree," Leo responded "Oh pardon my manners. Jorge, this is-"

The woman interrupted by introducing herself "I'm Hope. I help guard this place."

"It's a pleasure; I'm Jorge with a J." They shook hands when Leo decided to say "You must be starving. Go get yourself a plate and make one for Lilith."

"What about Greg?"

"I personally make his meals, so don't worry."

Without wondering what he makes for Greg he was more focused on his stomach. Jorge went to grab two plates and started to place the provided food on both.

Hope whispered over to Leo "What are your plans with them?"

"Send them on their way with adequate supplies. They can't stay here," he responded.

"Want me to gather what they need?"

"Not yet," Leo said "I'll let them eat and I will have a talk with them."

Hope nodded and walked away over looking the cafeteria. Jorge finished making both plates that had 2 strips of bacon, scrambled eggs, and a piece of toast with butter; he quickly rushed back down to his cell. 

Lilith was awoken making a video log "...and that's how we ended up here," She sniffed the air "I smell food," her eyes widened with joy "It's real food!"

Jorge gave her the plate and all she could do was stare at it wondering if its actually there. She turned the camera to the food "Look guys. Its real food!" 

The first thing she picked up was a fork so she could dive in to the eggs. The flavor of the eggs was savory and delicate on her tastebuds"I will update later to see if Leo accepts our offer. Goodbye." Quickly turning off the camera and digging in to her plate without hesitation while Jorge was doing the same. Within a few minutes of chowing down Leo came in with Greg's food. From Lilith's perspective it was only 2 piece of the same bacon they were eating except half of one was burnt. She felt sorry for him so as soon as Leo left the room she quickly rushed over with her bacon and toast with butter and handed it to him. 

"Thank you Lily," Greg smiled and took her offer.

"No problem dude."

Leo came back in as Lilith sat down with Hope and two other male guards following. Greg tried to hide the toast when he walked by, but he didn't bat an eye. 

Lilith said "We need make an offer with you."

"Well good morning to you too," Leo said sarcastically "What is your offer?"

"We want to go to the Legion to pick sides. I'm not a biased person and would like the whole story before we do anything."

"Oh...I see," Leo looked at Hope and shrugged "What else? There has to be something else."

Jorge stood up to say "We want to take Greg with us. He knows the way and its our best chance at surviving the way there."

Leo's eye twitched but he quickly recovered "What would I get in return?"

"Us possibly," Lilith said.

Leo was confident so he said "I accept, but these three guards will accompany you."

Jorge spoke "Fine with us."

Leo smirked and said to the guards "Let this guy out and make sure he doesn't do anything stupid. Get your shit prepped, all of you."
