I've pictured Violet many times in my head but seeing her in person brings up a series of emotions for me. She's beautiful.
"What are you doing here, Violet?" I ask her.
The last I'd heard, she moved town after her massive break up with Jake. She twirls a strand of her hair around her finger before shooting me a smile.
"I'm here to talk to Jake," Violet tells me.
My brows shoot up with surprise and I continue to stare at her with confusion. What could she possibly want to talk to Jake about? She cheated on him with his cousin. Her actions speak louder than words.
"Sorry, I should have introduced myself. I'm Jake's girlfriend," I say to her.
I'm more than just his girlfriend... I'm carrying his child but Violet doesn't need to know that. I don't expect her to react by bursting out with laughter. It's a laugh deep from her stomach and it causes a frown to take over my features. Did I say something funny? She continues laughing before realizing I'm serious. She looks back at me with bewilderment.
"Oh wow... You're not joking. Are you?"
"No, I'm not joking," I respond through gritted teeth.
I stand up straighter and take an immediate dislike to her. She's kind of a bitch. I hear footsteps approaching me from inside the house. My eyes flutter closed for a brief second because I know this isn't going to go down well.
"Wentworth? What's taking you so –" Jake opens the door and appears beside me.
As soon as his eyes land on Violet, he pauses and stares at her like he's seen a ghost from his past. I hold my breath with anticipation as I wait for his reaction. They both exchange a knowing look and I feel jealousy beginning to brew in the pit of my stomach. I can't resist feeling jealous when Violet is looking at the father of my child like she wants to jump his bones.
"Violet?" Jake says her name quietly in disbelief.
Violet pouts her lips and takes a suggestive step closer.
"Hey, baby. Did you miss me?" I almost choke on my imaginary drink. Baby?
"Excuse me? What did you just say?" I ask in disbelief.
Violet tears her eyes off Jake to glare at me. The disrespect and audacity exuding from her is suffocating. I stare back at her with an equal amount of intensity. I refuse to be intimidated by someone who has no respect for my relationship. I feel Jake's arm slip around my shoulder and he pulls me into his hard chest.
"What the fuck are you doing here, Violet?"
Ah, there it is. There's the hostility she deserves to be greeted with. Violet's smile is wiped off her face and an immediate smirk plays on my lips.
"I moved back to the area and thought I'd come see you... Merry Christmas!" Violet says cheerily.
I have to admire her for her ability to keep going even after feeling Jake's hostility toward her. Jake appears equally as stunned as I feel.
"You say that as if it's a good thing. I don't want anything to do with you. You fucked my cousin, remember?" Jake snaps at her.
Violet's glossy lips settle into a thin line. "That's what I came to talk to you about."
"I have nothing to say to you," Jake hits back at her.
Violet's eyes drift over his arm that's draped around my shoulder. She makes eye contact with me for a brief second and I feel the hatred exuding from her gaze. I've been met with icy stares before but Violet's stare takes home the ribbon. I'm not a fool... She's obviously hoping to win Jake back. How she thinks she's going to do that after betraying his trust and shattering his world is beyond me.
