Ashton got up and dressed in a grey long sleeve shirt with grey ripped skinny jeans. He grabbed his grey vans. He was feeling grey today. He grabbed his bag and walked to school. He barely ate. Which made him somewhat skinny. He ate at school and when his stepdad wasn't home. Or when Miss. Smith fed him.

"You didn't text me." Luke popped up behind him.

Ashton's heart jumped and then sunk. Luke sounded sad. Ashton pulled out his phone and texted Luke.

[Ashton : I'm sorry.]

Luke looked down at his phone and back up at Ashton. He texted him back.

[Luke :) : It's okay.]

"Come on, let's go to class." Luke smiled.

Ashton nodded and walked with Luke.

"Hey Ashton! Where you going." Blake shouted.

Ashton froze in fear. Another day another beating from the bully. Although Ashton thought. Blake walked up to Ashton and went to punch him but Luke grabbed his fist. He bent his arm. Blake shouted in pain.

"If you touch, I'll fucking rip your ball off and shove them down your fucking throat you little prick." Luke threatened Blake. "And that's a promise."

He let go of Blake's hand. Blake turned and walked a few steps before turning and punching Luke in the face. Luke punched Blake right in his face knocking him out.

"Stupid bitch." Luke spat and walked off with Ashton.

Luke took self defense class when he was young, still takes them actually. His a hard life being a gay. They walked into the classroom and Luke sat next to Ashton.

Ashton pulled out his phone and texted Luke.

[Ashton : Are you okay? You didn't have to do that.]

Luke felt his phone go off and looked at the message from Ashton.

"Yes I'm okay and yes I did. If you're not going to fight back then I'll fight back for you." Luke said.

[Ashton : It's fine. I'm used to it.]

Luke read the last few words over and over again. His blood boiled with anger. He's used to it? No one should be used to get beat up everyday. It broke Luke's heart. He sighed.

"You shouldn't be used to it." Luke sighed, hurt that Ashton would be used to something like that.

Why would he be used to something like that, so horrible.

...

It was lunch time and Ashton sat alone. The colorful haired boy walked up to him.

"Is it cool if I sit here." He asked Ashton.

Ashton didn't answer, but he nodded.

"Cool, I'm Michael." He smiled.

Ashton took out his phone and went to his notes.

I'm Ashton

Hi, Ashton...why don't you talk?

Personal reasons...

Ohh, I'm sorry.

It's fine

"Hey Ash." Luke walked up with Calum.

Ashton waved at Luke, and his eyes met Calum. Calum used to be best friends with Ashton until Ashton's mother died and he pushed Calum away.

"Ashton." Calum said as he sat down.

Calum knew Ashton could talk, He was surprised that Calum kept his secret.

"I'm Luke." Luke held out his hand towards Michael.

Michael shook his hand after staring at it.

It was silent. Comfortable yet awkward silent. Ashton went off in a daze, worried about when he went home. Worried about how unstable he is. He was broken yet holding on. But holding onto what?
