It was ironic really, how I met Tyson.
For the second time, I mean.
I was at that coffee shop I said I loved so much, and sitting in my usual seat, was Tyson.
After laughing quietly to myself and getting my coffee and muffin, I'd gone over to him and sat down.
"Hey there."
He looked up from his phone and grinned when he saw me.
"Hi. Chloe, right?"
I nodded.
"Tyson. In case you forgot."
"I remember. It was only a few days ago." I smiled.
"Yeah. So, you're dating Liam." He starts off unusually.
"Mhm." I took a sip of my drink.
"Why?"
I laughed.
"What do you mean why?"
"Why would you wanna date someone like him?"
It then occurred to me he was being serious.
"Because I like him. A lot."
"Young love. It's a deceiving thing."
"How poetic of you to say, but I'd like for you to not judge my relationship, please." I'd told him.
"I wasn't judging. I was observing."
"Well don't."
He smiled at that, I don't know why, but I smiled back.
"So where've you been the last 9 months? That's a long time to go without visiting family."
He looked at me weird.
"I couldn't exactly visit."
"Why not?"
After a second, he chuckled darkly.
"What exactly have they told you about me?"
"Not much. Just that you lived with other relatives."
He laughed and shook his head.
"Tyson Wright. Disgrace to the family, therefore kept a secret. I should've known." He had said.
"What do you mean?"
"I wasn't living with other relatives."
"Then where were you?"
"Jail." He'd responded simply.
"Jail?"
"Are you aware of the concept?"
"You're a criminal?" I'd whispered, more out of awe than fear.
"Kind of." He whispered back, mocking me.
"For what?"
He shrugged.
"Grand theft auto, robbery, trespassing, drug trafficking. The list goes on."
"Why? Why do all that?"
Why was I asking questions when I should've been running for the hills?
The answer is simple.
I was intrigued.
"It was fun. Also got a kick out of my parents. They'd always bail me out, until one day they decided I wasn't worth it anymore."
"I'm sure that's not true."
"Yes it is."
"They love you. They have to love you."
"I don't know what world you grew up in, but sharing the same blood doesn't make you loved."
"That's sad, the way you think."
He burst out laughing at me and I looked at him in confusion.
"You look like you're cat just died. What's so hard to believe?"
"That you're related to Liam."
"I'll take that as a compliment."
"Why? Liam's great."
"Too great."
"How do you mean?"
"He's so... Him."
I raise my eyebrows.
"I don't know. I guess to me he's just too... Good."
"And that's a bad thing?"
"Yeah. It can be. I mean, as far as I know, Liam never does anything that could cause trouble. At all. Doesn't that get boring?"
I shrug.
He's right.
You see, I love Liam. I really do. But I do get tired of putting up a facade. Meanwhile he seems to be fine with it. It's something I kind of wish we agreed on.
"No, not really." I lie in answer to his question.
He smirked.
"You're lying."
I rolled my eyes.
"You don't know me."
"Then let's change that. Wanna go for a ride?"
"On what?"
He got up without saying anything and headed towards to the exit.
I followed him outside to find a motorcycle.
"On that." He'd stated the obvious.
I laughed and told him no way.
He'd asked me why.
I told him he was crazy.
He told me crazy wasn't always a bad thing.
"Ready princess?" He asked as I held him lightly around the waist.
Liam wouldn't like this.
But Liam's not here.
"I guess so."
"Hold on tight." He'd told me, and as soon as we were on the road, I did.
"Slow down!" I yelled over the wind.
"No can do."
"You're gunna kill us!"
"Trust me?"
"No! I just met you!"
"Well then, you're gunna have to learn to trust me."
I'd held on for my life that day.
But I'll admit, thinking back to it,
It was fun.
