Chapter Sixteen

Jeff POV

Scorching pain ran through my body. I could barely contain my rage. Jane's eyes suddenly grew enormous, something snapped inside her with a crack. The bitch let out a shrill scream, and crumpled to the ground. Juliet stood behind her, holding a knife covered in shining, black blood. Her eyes were entirely black, like Jane's eyes. But, Juliet's black orbs were filled with fear, concern, and guilt. She stepped over Jane, her legs shaking.

Her black hair was knotted and tangled, her skin was pale as snow. Juliet wore rumpled pajamas, and was barefoot. Her ankles and wrists had raw, red scratches around them. She touched my face, her fingers trembling. I focused on her face, ignoring the pain in my stomach. The girl used the knife to pick the locks on the chain, and I collapsed into her arms. She struggled with my weight, I felt dizzy and struggled to stand. Juliet supported me as we stood, her arms wrapped around my chest.

"I'm so sorry" she whispered. I buried my face in her neck, breathing heavily.

"It's fine" I grunted. I was sticky with my own blood, and it hurt to breathe. The wound in my stomachs would heal with time and rest, but I had to do something. I took the knife from Juliet, and shoved away her arms.

I dropped to the ground on my knees, staring at Jane. Dark blood pooled from her wound. She lay on her back, legs sprawled. Her eyes were shut, her chest rose as she continued to breathe. I released all my contained rage, raising the knife high above my head. The blade sank into her neck. She strangled and gurgled. The blade stabbed her in the stomach next, blood seeping everywhere. Juliet released a sob from behind me. I sank the blade into Jane's heart at last, and smirked. Juliet's sobs increased, and the ground suddenly trembled. Juliet screamed as the floor in the far corner of the room cracked.

The crack rapidly expanded, and glowed red. Juliet fell to my side, I wrapped an arm around her as she stared at the growing hole in the floor. Flames poured from the hole, filling the room with flickering lights and intense heat. A figure suddenly rose from the hole. It was at least six foot-seven, maybe more. It stepped toward us, and I scrutinized this creature from hell. He had strange, pale green skin, like a sickly person. He was anything but sickly though. His ears were pointed, half hidden in his royal blue hair that was as long as mine. Two orange, snake like eyes stared at us. The creature wore black pants, black boots with spikes, white shirt with a black leather vest, and a large red medallion around his neck. A demon.

The demon spotted Jane on the ground, bleeding and unmoving, and ground his razor sharp teeth together. He walked toward us, bringing a furious aura with him.

"Why do you continue to exist?" The creature says in a velvety voice, eyes shooting daggers at me. Juliet stares at the demon, brows furrowed.

"To kill and pillage" I retort. The demon ignores me and kneels by Jane. His fingers grazed her torn, bloody neck. I slash the knife through the air, prepared to kill him, but his hand curls around the blade with and iron grip. The metal blade becomes play dough in his grasp, and I drop the freshly bent knife knife.

Juliet stares at the demon, who touches Jane's wounds tenderly, and the skin knits itself back together. I growl angrily, knowing this demon could probably kill me in an instant. The demon glances at me, and warmth spreads across my stomach. The blood retracts back inside my body, the pain fades. The demon picks up Jane, cradling her like a baby.

"Honestly, I find it foolish Jane wishes to kill you. Evil will always persist" the demon states. "I have told her to stop pursuing you, but she never listens. I thought my daughter would convince her to leave you alone, but Jane is too stubborn. She will not bother you for some time, I asure you that much. Continue the work of darkness" the demon says. Confusion replaces my anger.

"Daughter?" I ask, annoyed. The demon glances at Juliet for the first time, an eyebrow raised.

"Elaborate, Child" the demon says to her. Suddenly, he disappears with Jane. The hole in the floor fills in, the room grows stale and cold. Juliet stares at the ground. I roughly grab her chin, forcing her to look in my eyes.

"What was he talking about?" I growl. Juliet flinches, and sighs. She takes a deep breath, and shuts her eyes.

"Jane.....is......my mother" she says slowly. My eyes triple in size. "And that demon is my father, I guess" she adds.

I remember my first battle with Jane, knowing she had demon powers. The last time I saw Jane was about eight months ago. It had been a cloudy day. I was in a crowded city, hood pulled over my head. I spotted Jane's black hair, and saw the little girl holding her hand. The little girl looked just like her. A gasp, more like a growl, escaped my mouth. Juliet met my eyes.

"She had to hide me, she wiped my memory and gave me to the human mother. Jane thought I would help her kill you, and gave me back my memory" Juliet says simply. Her lips tremble, she looks close to tears. Her eyes beg me to say something, to tell her I still love her. Did I? I stare at her trembling lips for a moment, then realize that I could never hate her.

My arm encircles her waist, and we head back to the large, grimy room where the others are. Rotting, still bodies litter the floor. Sally stares at us happily, dropping a dead body and smirking. I pull out a cigarette and light it. Jack walks over to Juliet, and shakes her hand. Slendy nods at me, and disappears. Ben smirks, then leaves. Smile Dog rushes over, and licks Juliet's hands. Sally giggles. Juliet leans her head on my shoulder, exhaling. The rest of us leave the old building, and go back to Sally's.
