What No One Knows

chapter 6

Melanie's P.o.v

I wake up to my alarm clock. Looking at my phone, it's 6:05am showing that this was my snooze alarm. I don't even think I heard my alarm go off. I get up and walk to my closet to get something to wear. After getting a white long sleeve shirt I go to my dresser and get me some black leggings that are ripped at the knees.

Getting Victoria's Secret undergarment, I hop in the shower and wash myself clean. Getting out I dry myself and put my clothes on. Drying my hair I slightly curl it, before putting on some make up. Doing everything else I get my things and go wait for the bus.

Walking to the bus stop, I see a boy waiting there too. I quietly stand beside him, trying not to be awkward. I get my phone out and scroll through Instagram. Liking pictures every now and then.

"HI, I'm new! The names Daniel! This is my second day. " He says, trying to break the awkward silence. "Oh, hey Daniel, I'm Melanie." I say looking up at him. "Hahahaha, you're so short! I'm like a head taller than you!" He teases.

I frown at him and kick him in the leg. "Oww.. what was that for?" He asks, hopping around on one foot  rubbing his injured leg. "I'm not short! Your-you're just too tall!!" I say. He then stops his act and looks at me. Suddenly bursting out laughing he says "I'm 5'11 ha I bet you are 4'6 haha" I kick him once again. "No I'm.. I'm... darn it! How tall am I?" I ask myself. I think really hard. But give up and make up how tall I am.

"No, I'm 5'6!" I say.

"No you're not!"

Y-yes I am!"

"No!"

"Yes!!"

"Nu-uh, my younger brother is 5'6 and he's also taller than you!"

*light bulb*

"Oh! I remember, im......" darn it why am I so short "5'4" I whisper out. "Aha!I knew you were short!" He says, clapping around. I then see the bus coming so I step up a little. Once the bus stops I get on and see most girls looking at me... or more like Daniel, as if  he were a piece of chicken, and they haven't eaten in days.

I then start walking to the back where I sat the day before. I can hear people asking Daniel to sit next to them, but I don't look behind me, I stay looking down. Once I sit down, I get pushed over to the window. I look to see Daniel sitting beside me with a smile on his face.

I just sigh at him and look out the window all the way to school.

I get off the bus and walk to the front entrance. Going to math class without putting my things away, I just take my whole bookbag. Going in the class Julian is there waving for me to sit next to her. Instead of sitting beside her, I give her an apologetic smile, before going to sit in the back. Sitting down, Julian turns around to look at me.

'Why are you sitting there?' I can see her mouth. I just look down and give her a small shrug. Seeing the Math teacher, Mr. Lee, Julian turns around to look at the front of the class. For the whole class I can feel her glancing at me.

During every other block, I do the same and avoid my friends as much as I can.

Hearing the bell ring I get my stuff and try to leave quickly. I start to walk out the class room but see Julian and Rose walking towards me I try to get myself in the crowd but soon feel a hand on my shoulder.

"Melanie. Why are you ignoring us? What's wrong?" Rose asks me. "Nothing... I'm just not in the mood. Ok?" I say. "Melanie.. I thought we could tell each other anything? I mean, we are best friends?" This time it's Julian.

"I Already said it's nothing! Why do you keep asking what I already answered!?" I say, frustrated. "Well, Melanie, come talk to us when you're not acting like a bitch! We were just being what good friends we are and asked you what's wrong, no need to explode!!"Julian said, pushing past me muttering curse words under her breath in spanish, while dragging Rose with her. All Rose did was give an apologetic look while being dragged away by Julian. Even though I know Julian over reacts over the smallest things, it still hurt when she called me a bitch.

I look around me to see people staring and talking about how rude I am. I then run the other way, to the library. I sit under a small table at the back where you can't really see me, with all the chairs blocking me. A few minutes pass with it just being silent, until I hear someone calling my name.

Not wanting to be found I scoot more back in so I couldn't be seen. Not knowing behind me was a bunch of stacked book I scoot in until they my back hits them. Making all the books start falling, making a whole bunch of noise. Damn it! Well, might as well come out now.

But me being me, I stay hiding, hoping that Suzy didn't hear that. Seeing her walk away, I release a breath I didn't know I was holding. Knowing that she still might be looking for me I stay hiding.

After a while I hear the bell ring, making me quickly get up. Realizing that I'm already late I just scoot back down under the table, deciding to stay hidden.

"Melanie? What are you doing under there?"

Gasping I look to see who it is. Seeing Suzy squatting down to face me. I start to get teary-eyed. "Finally! I found you, I was looking for you around here just a while ago. Why didn't you answer me?" Hearing how concerned she was made me want to cry, so that's what I did. "I was so worried when I heard the rum- are you crying? No no don't cry!"  Now I understand why they call her the mom of the group. "Y-you're later f-for class." I say, still crying. "That's not important right now Melanie." Suzy says, trying to give me a hug. But I reject her by moving farther away from her.
