Slipping into one of my many dresses I combed out my hair.

Mother never let me lift a finger on anything, she made our house elf Dobby do that. But she understands the need to do your own hair and lets me do that in peace. Mother also made me get Slytherin dresses, always elegant and proud, not top mention green and silver. Todays dress is a knee length silky silver with a green strap around my thin waist. I pulled my hair up into a high ponytail and put on a silver headband, which sparkled next to my platinum blonde hair.

Staring at the girl in the mirror was like looking at a complete stranger. She showed confidence and independance, something mother taught me to show proudly. This girl was a true Malfoy, but me... I was a disgrace. My steely grey eyes inspected me firmly, though I was really only doing that because mother was standing behind me, waiting for me to come down to breakfast.

"You are beautiful, darling," Mother said. She was very beautiful herself, yet her usual scowl distored her face unattractivley. "Now come along, me and your father have a surprise for you."

"Yes mother. Thank you mother," I replied as I tucked a loose strand behind my ear.

Mother stuck out her soft hands from years of no working and I took it with my own. We both glided down the stairs in our matcing dresses, though her's swept the floor gracefully.

We entered the dining room where Draco and father sat quietly, waiting for us to arrive to begin eating the food Dobby cooked.

"How nice of you to join us, Alex." Father said, in his usual snooty but proud tone.

"I'm sorry I took long, father," I said, smiling slightly and making the face I knew he would always soften with. "I woke up pretty late, I was just nervous."

I sat next to mother, across from Draco. "Why were you nervous?" Draco asked.

"I've been waiting for an exception for school for the whole week, it hasn't come." I said quietly as we all started to eat hot soup. "I was hoping that it would come last night."

Mother and father shared a happy glance, they were always happy to please us. Little did they know that the more they pleased us the more Draco was becoming spoiled, and would soon demand everything.

"We have a surprise for you, two." Mother said happily, catching Draco's attention at once. I looked up, the same expression on my face but mine's was fake.

"What is it, mother?" Me and Draco asked in harmony.

"An exception from school," Father said. "It came last night, like you were wating for, Alex."

"What school?" Draco asked, raising one blonde eyebrow. "Durmstrange?"

"No," Mother snapped. She didn't want her little boy to be in Durmstrange because it was too far. It was completely differant for me and Draco. Where as Mother adored Draco, father adored me. "You got an exception for Hogwarts."

"What about me?" I asked, directing my question to father. If I was going to be daddy's favorite I had to be a daddy's girl. "Hogwarts also?"

"Yes," he sniffed. "But also Beauxbatons."

Mother smiled thoughtfully down at me, I knew she didn't care if I went all the way to france. She thinks it would help on my ladylike manners, which I already had.

"Which is it, sweety?" Mother said, brushing a loose strand out of my face gently. "Hogwarts or Beauxbatons?"

I looked acorss the table to father who was looking at me with such love it hurt. It was impossible to show the same affection for people like them, people who despised someone just by the way they were born, or who they loved. I read about love in fairy tales, it didn't seem like you chose who you loved. Like Prince Charming never chose to love Cinderella - a maid for a poor family - it just happened.
