As humans we are far from perfect. However, we are on the constant prowl to scrutinise others. We ought to refrain from such tendancies as we are a long way from being an impeccable species. Now, why is it that we judge others based soley on their appearance? It is quite sad that one can think so highly of themselves, dissmissing what ought to be one's natural flaws; imperfections that we are all born with. I must add that as humans, judgement is unescapeable; something we cannot do without. Once out of the comfort of our home, all walls; barriers and masks are obliterated, completely non-existent, thus leaving this "perfect" society to do with us as it pleases. No matter how well constructed one's facade can be, scrutiny will make its way around the ties that have taken so long to create.
Humans have a crave for acceptance, whether we admit it or not, we always seek for someone's approval. It can be for something so miniscule; unimportant, but we want it. We will go through great lengths to be accepted by our "immaculate" society. If we don't look as expected, we are vigorously judged on a scale far too vast. There is little room on that scale to pass as "normal," but a great deal of space to give reason for alienation.
If our face is not the perfect calculation, we are ugly. If we cannot fit into a size six, we cannot shop at H&M, because we are "too big." If we wear all black, we are, emo; creepy or scary. Having tattoos and piercings makes us criminals. Having morality makes us a prudes. Challenging an idea or a belief makes us rebels. So you see, we can never win, judgement and labeling will always follow. To satisfy society's "rules" we change, therefore losing who we are. When we acquiesce to society's vision, we let judgement win.
We must not let the "ideal view" of society envelope our psyche. Do not change for the pleasure of others. Do not allow the followers to instill their beliefs upon your own. We do not need a "cookie cutter" society. We must stop trying to be a perfect one at that, for I have said before, that we are and will always be imperfect. As cliché as it may sound, be yourself.
Everyone's face has a flaw, so screw calculations. If you are not a size six, so be it, you do not need to give those "high end" shops more profits. If you prefer dark coloured clothing, great, who fucking cares what others think. Tattoos and piercings? If that is what you like, go ahead and do it. When done right, tattoos and piercings can tell a story about you. If you have morals, then feel proud of yourself, because you know that you are not housing deleterious diseases and carrying a burdensome reputation on your back. And if you do not believe in something, stand by your belief, you will never know what you can accomplish with your ideas. If the followers want to follow, let them, just do not join them. Only you control your life, style and beliefs. However, whether you chose to let others influence all of that is based soley on you too as well.
Our society is corrupt, it is best we stay away from giving in to its cunning ways.
