Nine

"We did it."

"We did."

"Xavier, Andrea!"

We look around until we see Nelson with Xavier's parents and siblings, and my family.

"I'm proud of both you, especially you, you little brat. You're welcome."

"The fuck you mean 'you're welcome'? I did this on my own fuck you."

"Hey, I made your class easier so shut up. I'm a great teacher."

Miss Ruis pats his back and he moves to the side, "I'm proud of you Andrea."

"T-thank you... I'm glad you all decided to come."

"Of course, we weren't going to miss this for the world." Mister Govern, my father, says.

I smile softly and stay close to Xavier. After this we were all going to the airport to go to Summits, and from there we were going to a restaurant and then I was finally going to learn about my family. Xavier's family comes up and we greet them with a hug and kiss.

"So proud of both you! You grew up so fast baby!" Misses Acosta says kissing Xavier on the cheek. "And you, thank you so much for taking care of my little boy." She hugs me and also gives me a kiss on the cheek.

"It was nothing, actually, I'm lying... He's a handful you can take him back." We both laugh and I look behind her to see Miss Ruis and Nelson together. Miss Ruis looked upset and Nelson had his arm around her telling her something. "I'll be back." I whisper to Xavier and walk over to them. "Hey."

"Oh, hi Andrea!" She tries to say with a smile

"Hello, may I speak to Nelson for a little?"

She nods, "Of course dear."

Nelson and I walk away and he gives me a confused look. "She's upset about me and Misses Acosta isn't she?" He nods. "I just- I don't know what to do Nels... I guess I just need to learn more about them and the family to be able to show them that love I guess?"

"She just wants her little girl back."

"And I-" I stop myself shaking my head.

"You what?" He spats

"Nothing."

"You what Andrea?"

I see Xavier quickly come over and touches my arm lightly, "Hey... What's up?" He gives us both a look, "It's suppose to be a good day you guys, come on."

"What were you going to say?" Nelson says taking a step forward

Xavier steps in between us and faces me, "Baby, just say it, please."

I sigh, "I just want my life back."

"What does that even mean?" Nelson asks pushing Xavier to the side a bit

"I thought I knew who my family was, but I don't. I don't even know how to have a relationship with them... I just want a family... My family.." My voice cracks

Nelson's eyes soften and so does his whole body language, "We are your family. The Acosta's are your family. You just need to give us a chance to get to you too."

"And she will." Mister Govern says placing his hand on Nelson's back. "Nelson you can't force her into our lives, she is a grown young lady, am I right?" I nod softly. "She can think on her own cant you sweetie?" I nod again. "She will probably like to know us before getting close to us am I right?" I nod again. "See? Don't be hard on your sister alright? We're leaving to Summits now and it's a few hours until she learns about us so don't scare her away before she gets the chance."
