Chapter 7

"AJ could you stay back for a moment?" AJ groaned internally and went to her teacher's desk as everyone else flooded out to their next period.

"Yes Miss Chapen?" AJ smiled.

"Well in the beginning of the quarter you were doing very well. Outstanding probably the best student out of all my classes," AJ smiled even though she knew where this was headed, "But now, I don't know whether if it's because you're excited for Halloween and you can't seem to focus or if something is going on in your life that is distracting you, you have a D. I don't understand AJ you had an A+ and it never went down but your grade, and not just from my class, have all dropped. You have a lot of missing assignments from, again not only my class but several other teachers too. Are you alright? What's wrong?"

Dean hadn't talked to her in almost two weeks. That's what was wrong. AJ couldn't say it because not only was it a lame excuse but it was embarrassing. So she did what she knew she could do best, fake cry. AJ started to fake cry which worried her teacher.

"I don't know Miss Chapen. I just can't deal with all this stress at the moment. My dog died and whenever I used to be stress he would come and cuddle with me and bring me his dog treats so I could feel better. Now that he's gone I can't seem to focus correctly. He's been with me since the start and to have him gone is stressing me out cause I miss coming home to him and I just miss him so much. I'm sorry I'm falling behind I just never really had any friends and he was my one and only friend for many years of my life. I don't know what to do, I'm sorry," AJ broke out into sobs which worried Miss Chapen.

"I'm sorry AJ, look, I'll talk to all your other teachers and have them agree to give you a week to catch up. One week only, okay? We don't have much time the quarter is coming to an end in about 1-2 weeks. So hopefully by then you'll have everything done," AJ gave a weak smile and nodded. Miss Chapen stood up and gave her a hug before giving her a pass to her next class.

AJ thanked her and left to her next class. AJ thanked the heavens above because she was not wearing makeup. AJ handed her pass to her teacher quickly and sat next to Seth. Seth and AJ haven't done much talking either which was very awkward for each other considering they had practically every class together and sat next to each other. Seth and Roman have tried on numerous occasions to apologize to both AJ and Dean but neither will accept.

Dean was back to his old ways. He was constantly busy at his "appointments" and was always at work. The only words he's spoken to Seth and Roman were "Fuck you." Dean was so pissed that he was know on drugs to ease him. He was living the "life" the way he put it. Drugs, booze, cigarettes, and babes. He was going to parties more frequently which worried Seth. Seth always acted like the parent figure in Dean's life even though Seth was younger. Seth continuously tried to talk to Dean but Dean flat out ignored him. AJ was practically the same but when she did talk to him they were very short and snappy remarks. Roman felt upset cause this was the first time AJ ignored him like this.

They were both very close and having AJ be so distant reminded him why he was so happy when his parents took her in. Roman never went through the "I hate my sister" phase. Growing up for 4 years alone in the family was boring. So once Roman got a 3 year old sister that was interested in practically everything he was interested was great. They were practically inseparable. Roman always wanted to protect her and never once has that changed. Roman always included AJ in everything he did and his friends never minded because AJ was just like them. Just shorter.

"I'm sorry AJ. I really am," Seth said.

"Is that supposed to fix anything?" AJ replied.

"Yes. I want to hang out with you again. I don't understand why you're so mad there's plenty of other guys out there and Dean moved on from you so fast that should give you a sign that he really didn't want you," Seth froze as soon as he let the last sentence spill from his mouth. AJ stiffened and let out a shaky breath.
