Like.

"Everyone, this is (L/n) (Y/n), she will be the newest member of the Port Mafia." (L/n) was introduced. She waved slightly at everyone and they all either bowed their heads slightly, waved a little wave back, or mumbled a quiet "hello". Then they all went back to work.

Chuuya saw this as an opportunity. He walked right up to her, took one of her hands, and kneeled on one knee.

"Greetings, (L/n)-san! I am Chuuya Nakahara! It is a pleasure to meet you!" (L/n) was surprised by this action. It was unexpected compared to what everyone else had done, and it was certainly obnoxious and overdramatic. "Would you like me to show you around?"

"Sure." Was all she said in return with a small smile. With that, Chuuya had already dragged her halfway down the hall.

Dislike.

"Chuuya!!!!!" (L/n) yelled as she slammed the door open. She was angry beyond belief. She and Chuuya had been "friends" for four years now, but this was it. The straw that broke the camel's back. She wouldn't have it anymore!

"Aw, don't be like that, (L/n)! It was just a little joke!" Chuuya defended as he waved his arms out in front of him. (L/n) glared in response.

"No. Don't give me that whole "it was just a joke!" or "I was just having a little fun!"! No, I've had it up to here!" She raised her hand above her head to signal where she had had it up to.

"Oh, come on! You're my friend, (L/n)! You of all people should be used to my shenanigans by now!" Chuuya followed after (L/n) as she had started walking away.

"As far as I'm concerned, we aren't friends anymore." She said coldly, then slammed the door before Chuuya could walk out and follow her. He stood there for a minute, going over what just happened in his head.

"You messed up." A monotonous voice came from behind. Chuuya caught a glimpse of Akutagawa.

"Shut up."

Hate.

Over the past two years, the disliking (L/n) took towards Chuuya grew into something more. Dislike was an understatement to what she felt towards him.

Hatred.

Ever since that day two years ago, (L/n) has found more and more reasons to dislike Chuuya. To the point where she just down right hated him.

Ever since that day two years ago, Chuuya would annoy her. Prank her. Straight up tease her. It was hell. Which is why she hated him. But, if she hated him so much, then why did she feel so hurt whenever he was mean to her? It shouldn't bother her if she hated him.

He hated her because of that day, two years ago. The constant silent treatment, only being talked to by (L/n) when it was absolutely necessary. Not even when he pranked or teased her, would Chuuya get her to speak to him.

And so, he's been telling himself ever since that day, two years ago, that he hates (L/n). But if he does hate her, then why does it pain Chuuya to prank her, to tease her, to be on the receiving end of the silent treatment?

Love.

It's been three years since that day, and nine years since they first met. Ever since that day, three years ago, (L/n) has grown cold and sometimes a little violent. The only person she was even remotely nice around was Higuchi, the only person she classified as a "friend". And Chuuya has become depressed, the depression growing worse with every day.

Because of this, Chuuya has started picking on (L/n) less and less. And now, it's stopped all together. And, of course, (L/n) has taken notice to this. She's taken notice to his dramatic decline in mood. She's even taken notice to the increasing number of bandages on his arms.

One night, Chuuya was sitting at home, thinking. A single question had been running through his mind for weeks, now. And he finally came to an answer. Chuuya went to his kitchen in search of a knife.

Although she'd never admit it, (L/n) had been... worried about Chuuya lately. And so, she decided to check on him tonight. To the untrained eye, Chuuya had been acting the same way he had been for weeks today. But (L/n) knew that something had to be off.

Chuuya slumped to a sitting position against one of the kitchen walls. He held the knife up to his wrist, but before he could do anything, he heard a loud noise. Like something had just been forced open. He peered around the door, and sure enough, his front door was kicked down.

(L/n) scanned the room until she saw a familiar face by the kitchen door. She practically sprinted towards the opening, while Chuuya was struggling to stop his trembling and bring the knife back up to his wrist.

He was almost there, until an amazingly strong force took the knife from his hand. He looked up to be met with an angry and distraught (L/n).

"What in the hell to you think you're doing?!" She asked, yelling angrily. Chuuya dropped his head. He pushed himself up from the floor and reached for the knife, only to have (L/n) chuck it across the room, wedging itself between to of the wood panels that covered the walls. Her expression softened once she heard the quiet whimpers and sniffles, once she saw his shaking shoulders.

"I... I'm sorry... (L/n)." Chuuya said, now sobbing. "I'm sorry for everything I've done to you!" He leaned against the wall with his right shoulder. (L/n) didn't know what to say, so she just did. She pulled Chuuya in and embraced him. It didn't take long for him to hug back.

Chuuya rested his head on her shoulder as he kept crying, (L/n) tracing patterns on his back to try and calm him down. Soon, the tears had stopped flowing, all that was left was the stinging in his eyes. "I'm sorry, I really am. I hope you can forgive me..." Chuuya's voice was barely above a whisper.  "I just want you to know that... I never hated you, and I never could. Because, in all honesty, I love you, (Y/n)."

(L/n) then pulled away from the hug, Chuuya already missing the warmth. She look him in the eyes and inhaled.

"Chuuya. As much as I dislike the idea of admitting it..." She paused and cast her eyes to the floor. "I... love you, too." When she brought eyes back up, Chuuya was not a millimeter away from her. And in less than a second, his lips where on hers.

It was a gentle kiss. A soft, slow one. A type of kiss that just screams "I love you".

And ever since that day, neither of the two could be any happier.

Extended Ending:

"Chuuya!" (Y/n) called happily. Chuuya groaned lazily, signaling he was on the couch and didn't want to move. She rolled her eyes and quickly made her way over. "Chuuya! I have some news!!" Chuuya sat up abruptly.

"This is good news, right?" She nodded her head vigorously. Just looking at her smile made Chuuya smile as well. "So, what's this news, then?"

"I'm pregnant!!" She squealed as she started jumping up and down softly. Chuuya's eyes widened and he embraced his wife that he loved to no end gently.

Or so they thought.
