"Hypothetically speaking, if I had a crush on someone who I'm not supposed to, what should I do?"

Pearl glanced at the teen and raised a brow.

"I am not fully accustomed to the workings of human love. However I think that the best technique is to outright say it. Why waste your short lives stalling?"

Connie swallowed, it strangely felt as though a stone was caught in her throat. She nodded. Pearl studied her. "Why did you need to know, anyway?"

Connie flustered, stuttering. "N-no reason! R-really!"

Pearl watched her curiously before nodding and wandering off.

Connie twiddled her fingers behind her back, rocking back and forth on her heels.

"Just... ask?" She wondered aloud, then frowned. She was pretty sure that if she just asked, the answer would be a solid "no"

Pearl was unnatainable.
She was unhuman.
She was powerful.
She was experienced.

Connie was just a human.

Pushing down her self-hating thoughts, connie wiped away a stray tear and walked away.
