"Kara Matthews, you little b-i-t-c-h-!" Kelsey laughs, as I sit next to her.
"I'm sorry but, she can't bring me down." I try to stop myself form laughing, and I dig into her Pizza.
|After school|
"What if she just came and snatched me? What would you guys do?" Jax asks us and I swear the boy looks concerned with the amount of responses.
"I'd drown her, snap her neck, chop it off and save you. Duh, you idiot." Faye erupts of laughter, taking a seat next to me now.
We were all in the cafe, studying spells. Well, that and eating snacks from Ben's pantry. Barbra and Kelsey were upstairs making coffee, and grabbing more snacks. If I didn't know them well enough, I would have assumed they had the munchies.
Me, Faye, Ben and Todd were waiting downstairs. Todd was surprisingly being quiet, too quiet. I didn't know the kid well, but something was up.
"Remember that time little Matthews threatened me?" Todd questions us, okay maybe he is high. Why would he bring that up?
"I'm gonna try and find my dad, I'll be back." I dust off my pants form sitting on the ground, making my way up the steps.
As I do, Barbra almost tackles me. She's peppering me with kisses, telling me to stay. I told her I was going to be gone only an hour. And she made the funniest face, and placed a kiss on my forehead. Kelsey was still staring at her, and started dying got laughter. Maybe these kids were really high.
I left the cafe, and went home. That's where I found my dad, with at least twenty townspeople. They all look like they're planning a war. He sees me, and separates himself from the group.
"We're just creating some plans, if there's an attack." He smiles, and looks over my shoulder.
"If there is and attack, do I fight her? Do I fight mom?" This was the one question I never asked anyone. What was I supposed to do? Kill my mother? save her?
His eyes dart to mine, "It- if it comes to it, I know you'll do everything to save her."
"But what if there's nothing to save? What if she's just gone? What if she's been-" I try asking him and he just grabs m by my shoulders, gripping me hard.
"You did the best, this isn't your fault. Don't blame yourself."
With that, he pulled me into a hug. I hugged back, said I was going to the cafe. But I wasn't really going. I told them I'd be back in a hour. It was only twenty minutes, and I have to do something other than study spells and have pep talks!
I had no idea where Jones lived. So that was not an option.
I didn't feel like calling anyone either. Maybe I just needed some time to myself to think things through.
I wanted to be alone.
My feet are thinking faster than my brain, and guiding me around town. I must have done a good job, because no one was staring at me. I looked through small window shops, and the central park.
I was getting tired of walking so I took a seat on the bench, by some vinyl store. I watched people come and out of it. I watched the kids playing in the park.
In the park I also saw something else.
I saw the little girl, who attacked me. How was she just here, playing with other kids? Is this what she did in her spare time? Killing game by the nighttime, but shits and giggles in the day? This wasn't fair, at all!
How?!
I stood up and started walking back to the cafe, before I tangled someone's child. Maybe it wasn't her, it was something controlling her. Either way, she didn't deserve what was happening to her.
As I stepped back into the cafe, I grabbed one of the puff pastries on the table. All that time that went by, they probably ate the snacks they had brought before.
One foot in front of the other, I went down the steps. Faye was sprawled across Kelsey, Ben was taking what seemed to be a nap on the couch. Barbra and Jax, they were hitting it off. Todd was no where to be found. Probably went home or something.
I joined them, in whatever studying we were doing now. Faye was giggling like a idiot, and Ben was waking up.
"What are you laughing at?" I asked.
"I just remembered we could all die, at like any moment." She stops laughing, because now everyone is concerned. "I don't know how to handle my emotions."
"Okay, so I was thinking maybe we should-"
I stop myself from talking, when all of their eyes turn black! Like full on deamon black! I've never seen this shit before!
"Guys?" I was met with no response, they were being controlled. "Guys!"
I crawled over to Ben, shaking him in the process. No response. I nudged Barbra, nothing. I stood up as quickly as I could and heard footsteps. Who could it be? Jones?
I spun around to see who it was, and I'm graced with Todd's face.
"Oh god- look you have to help us! They're like-" He looks over to them, and cuts me off.
"I know." He says passively to me.
"H-What do you mean you know?" I was already stepping back, I didn't trust him one bit.
"I did this." He shrugs his shoulder, walking closer to me.
"Todd. Listen, what did you do?" I keep walking backwards, until I hit the hard wall behind me.
"Demons. They told me to do this, and It'll stop." He looks more confused, than angry as he stops walking towards me.
"But those demons, can be her demons! What if you just took their powers?" I scream at him, this skid was getting on my last nerves.
"Kara! Get it though your head! We are all gonna die anyways!" He shouts at me now, flaring red.
"Are you joking! We had a chance! We had a f-"
A blast comes form the other side of the room, causing us both to fall to the floor. Todd is out of the count, but I manage to get up slowly. Someone is on the other side of the room, watching.
It's a tall blonde woman, her eyes black as the night. It was just like Kelsey and the other's eyes. She walks over to me, no doubt planning something.
"You should come with me, if you want your friends to be alright." She sticks out her hand to reveal that white glowing knife.
"You look like them, did Todd come to you?" I ask her, and she's flashing a smile at me.
"Yes, he came to me Kara. And if you don't come with me now, I'll kill them all." She extends her hand for me to take, and I almost take it..
