Slowly, Yookyung was getting used to working at Starlight Cafe. She pushed the door open and greeted Kanghyuk, "Annyeonghaseyo Kanghyuk-oppa!" He looked up from brewing coffee and waved. She smiled and made her way to the locker room.
Yookyung changed out of her uniform and slipped on her shirt, jeans and apron. She tied up her hair in high ponytail and stuck a pen behind her ear. She patted her apron making sure her notepad was there and she nodded. She then made her way out.
Kanghyuk waved her over and handed her a cookie, "Freshly baked and I saved one just for you!" She grabbed the cookie and smiled, "Thanks oppa." He resumed brewing coffee and Yookyung started nibbling on the cookie.
At that moment, the door opened and a young man walked in. He looked around in awe at the cafe. Yookyung put her cookie down and came out from behind the counter. "Annyeonghaseyo! How may I he- Omo!" The boy turned his attention from the cafe to the young who was now pointing at him.
He furrowed his eyebrows, "Do I know you?" Yookyung nodded, "Last time when I was running from these guys, you pulled me into an alley." The boy thought for a moment and smiled, "Oh yeah! How've you been?" She smiled, "I've been fine. How about you Hyukmin-ssi?"
Hyukmin looked surprise, "How do you know my name?" Yookyung made a face, "You told me last time, remember?" He nodded, "Oh yeah, I did! Sorry, I'm not that great at remembering things." She shook her head, "It's fine. Would you like to sit?" He nodded and she guided him to a small table against the wall.
He sat down and took a look at the menu that was lying one the table. "Mm, I'll have a white chocolate mocha and a mushroom brie panini." Yookyung wrote everything down on her notepad and smiled, "I'll bring it over when it's done." He nodded and went back to looking around the cafe.
She leaned on the counter, "Oppa, a white chocolate mocha and a mushroom brie panini." He held up an okay sign and pushed a tray towards her, "Table 23." She grabbed the tray and made her way to the table.
She set it down and bowed. She went back to the counter and started eating her cookie again. Kanghyuk slid a tray to her and nodded at Hyukmin's direction, "You know him?" Yookyung turned around and saw he was talking about Hyukmin, "Yeah, why?"
Kanghyuk shook his head, "Nothing, that's my cousin." Her eyes widened, "Wait, did you say cousin?!" He nodded, "Yeah, we're the same age too."
He took the tray and walked over to Hyukmin. He placed it down and smiled, "Sup Hyukmin." He looked up and smiled, "Hey. I didn't know you work here." Kanghyuk scoffed, "Please, mom makes me work here whenever I have free time which is practically every day."
Hyukmin chuckled, "Auntie just needs the help. Thanks for the food." Yookyung nudged Kanghyuk, "I'm gonna take orders now." He nodded and she headed off to the counter.
Kanghyuk took a seat across from his and leaned forward, "How do you know Yookyung?" Hyukmin sipped his drink, "Oh, I saved her from these guys that were chasing her before. Why? Is she your girl?" The other boy burst into laughter, "HAHAHAHA! That's real funny! No, she's just a part time worker here. Besides, she's still in high school which makes me probably 2 years older than her."
His cousin nodded, "I see. Well, glad I gave you a good laugh." He ate his panini and nodded, "Not bad cousin, it's pretty good." Kanghyuk crossed his arms over his chest and flipped his hair, "Of course it's good! I've been working here for so long I can be considered a pretty good chef." Hyukmin chuckled and sipped his drink.
Mrs. Park came out from her office and grabbed Kanghyuk by the ear, "What're you doing not working? You can't expect a young high school girl to handle this shop by herself!" He winced in pain, "Arasso umma, just let go!" She let go and scowled, "Go back to work! And I told you not to call me umma here!" He stuck his tongue out and ran back to the counter, afraid of what she might do.
Hyukmin grabbed his tray and bowed, "Nice seeing you, auntie." She turned around and smiled, "Oh Hyukmin-ah! I didn't know you were visiting." He shrugged, "Me either. I just wanted to see how your cafe looks and it's pretty cool." She lightly hit his arm and laughed, "Oh Hyukmin, you sure do know how to please a woman."
He bowed, "It was nice seeing you again, auntie. I'll be sure to visit again." Mrs. Park patted his shoulder, "Do so! And help out sometimes too! My son is getting lazier by the day." "Hey!" Kanghyuk yelled.
Hyukmin walked to the counter and slid the tray back to Yookyung. "How much?" He took out his wallet and waited for Yookyung to tell him his amount. She looked up from the register, "11,000 won." He handed her the exact amount. She smiled and put the money in.
Before he left, Yookyung yelled out, "Come visit again Hyukmin oppa!" He smiled and headed out the door.
