What snapped me out of it was the sound of a car horn. We both look in the direction.

It was Laura and her friends. She was held back in kindergarten because her parents wanted her to be a year older than everyone. "Yo Jonathan, you coming to Bobby's tonight?" Alan, his friend said from the passengers side window.

I waited for Jonathan's response. "It's a school night, you know my mom will kill me," Jonathan replies back.

"Dude, who cares," Alan shrugs. "And bring your friend," he adds earning a nudge from Laura.

"Or not," he mumbles looking over at Laura confused.

Alan had just moved here a year ago so we didn't really know each other. Laura, however, hated me with a passion. It's okay though, because I hate her too.

"I don't know man, maybe another night," Jonathan says.

"Cmon Jonny, you can't make up some excuse?" Laura says.

"I'll try my best," Jonathan says after a moment. I roll my eyes.

"See ya later dude," Alan says to us before Laura speeds off.

Jonathan looks over to me. "I think we should get home," I say not wanting to bring up what had previously happened.

"Lily, Darcy, it's time to go," I say to them. They were at the table beside us.

We head home and to my prediction, my dad wasn't home.

-
Lily had made plans with Darcy to spend the night and go to school together the next morning. Mrs. Brandis offered me to too but it would just be weird since Jonathan and I had grown up.

It was around 8:30 when I finished getting ready for school. I was in my room about to get in the shower when I hear a loud sound at my window.

I was confused since I was on the second story. I ignore it.

The sound was back and I begin to worry. I go over to my window slowly and see Jonathan. I begin to feel relieved.

"What the heck!" I say loud but quietly after I open my window.

"Is your dad home?" He calls.

"No," I reply back suspiciously.

"Okay, so remember that party?" He questions with a look of innocence.

After a moment I realize what he meant. "No way," I say giving him a look of ridicule.

"Cmon Grace, please?" He begs.

"I said no," my answer was final.

"Do you even have anything else better to do?" He asks.

"Yea," I argue.

"Like what?" He grins.

"Sleep! Which is exactly what you need to be doing," I say.

"If you don't go, who's gonna keep me out of trouble," he pouts.

"I don't know and I don't care," I say moving away from my window out of his view.
