Call You Mine

Chapter 9 - One Step Forward, Two Step Backwards

"Is this for real? What kind of weird attention seeking person came up with this idea?" I roll my eyes as I pass by the unpleasant poster on the wall, I was beyond annoyed by it.

"You're hilarious, you know that? Most girls get excited by the idea of it, even guys. " Jake puts his arm around my shoulder, making his black letterman jacket graze my neck.

" I live in the real world." I huff, removing his arm off my shoulder , making a direct beeline to my locker.

"I think you should put your name up." Jake leans against the locker next to me as I proceed to unlock mine and retreive my black cap. My hair was being improbable to me today, it was straightened but the tips were getting curly with this frigging weather. It has been raining since the moment I opened my eyes in the early morning,  so I had used the treadmill as my substitute for the morning run in the forest.

"For prom queen? Hahaha, now that's hilarious, I'll leave that to Chloe." I giggle, closing my metal locker, placing the black cap onto of my head firmly and marching on in the direction of my morning class with Jake in tow.

I cannot believe the posters for the prom Queen and King was already up, which made sense since prom was this Friday. I mean it was already Wednesday but still, so far there was only three couples with their names and posters on the wall : Jenny Chang & Henry McDonald, Hillary Benson & Percy Jones and Mary Luther & Cade Bolton. The posters were everywhere you turned.

After my walk home with Derek last night, I had seen a new perspective of him. He was a sweet leader with the future of our species at heart. Sadly, this made me like him more and I felt bad as I knew I could not have him. A small crush was slowly developing into more and I had to nip it in the bud. Furthermore, I had struggle to fall asleep. But as usual as soon as I would shut my eyes; Zander's face would appear. It was a curse really. No matter how much I try to convince myself that I was not scared of him. But at the end of the day who was I kidding, I was terrified of him, especially now that I had to push my wolf back at all times, to prevent the Lycan side from peaking out.

I was using all my energy just not to fall asleep and I knew it wasn't enough for me to be at my best for today's evaluation . I just hope I can do better than yesterday though.

Sleeping Beauty consider yourself lucky.  Imagine all that uninterrupted sleep, and they dare call that a curse? Girl, please.

School went by pleasantly since it was only a half day, due to the Student Council and prom committee. They had asked to end school early, so they could start decorating for prom.

Since we had a free afternoon, Chloe and I went to my house and just hung out on the couch like a bunch of potatoes. It was a perfect afternoon with the rain still pouring outside but by the time it was practice time it had all cleared up. It was only when we were ready and suited in our gears, that Aley showed up.

"Hey guys. I have news." Aley runs over to us. Her hair was in a high ponytail, her slender body drapped in black leggings, top and shoes. I swear she could be a model.

"Well well look who showed up."Chloe chuckles when Aley got to next to us. "Where were you?"

"At school. I am part of the prom committee,  remember?I was decorating." Aley rolls her eyes and shakes her head at Chloe. "How's that going anyways? Are you guys almost done?" I lift my right knee up until it reached my breast. "Not quite but almost,  just need a few ticks that's all. You guys should see it, it's beautiful. Anyways that's not what I came to tell you guys. Lily Perry told me that there is a great costume shop in the next town. I was hoping we could go get some cool stuff there tomorrow after school before training." Aley drops to the ground and starts stretching her quads,and we go down with her so we can continue the conversation.
